I find this guys track record to be rather fascinating, a doctor, a poker player, a drug dealer, and a s-x machine... WOW! You go David Dao!!!

@whf - there are many things that point that this is the same David Dao

If you look at the Poker photos, it's visibly the passenger. The Poker Photos have his hometown listed as E-Town in KY, that's what's on the medical license and the complaint.

I have no doubt that this is the same guy

So what if people are looking into he is? The media sure as hell isn't. I've been wondering all damn day who the guy is and whether he is a real doctor (because everyone throws around he is a doctor with NO proof).

Thank you to people looking into it. You know journalism is dead when we have to do it ourselves. You really know it's dead when people are perfectly happy accepting things as fact just because "he said he is a doctor." Not saying he isn't. But it would be nice to fact check it if people are going to run around repeating his word as gospel all day long.

Seriously people? A quick internet search shows that there are 116 people in the USA with the name David Dao. It also shows that more than one of them are doctors. They haven't even confirmed his name was reported accurately from this anonymous source. Who cares if he's a Dr. Or where he's from! What you should be concerned with us that a 69-year-old man was assaulted while consulting a lawyer as to what his rights were. For all we know, he might have very sick patients who are without care now because some inhumane jerk thought it would be cheaper and more expedient to beat and drag this man from the flight he paid to be on than to just comp a rental car for the employees to make the 4.5 hour drive themselves. Sick!

This is crazy, it's almost as crazy as that video that I just watched...

So, to recap here (David Dao vs United) we have the following elements of a quality plot - this is a Hollywood style plot:

  • a doctor

  • a viral video

  • poker

  • gambling at a six digit scale

  • controlled substances

  • legal action, fines

  • license suspension

  • nepotism

  • inappropriate s-xual (same s-x) behavior

  • s-x for controlled substance

I am not really sure why all this background info on Dr David Dao has anything to do with the facts of what happened - this is what's important and why United Airlines will face consequences:

  • David Dao, a passenger, was hurt

  • David Dao was humiliated

  • David Dao was berated and belittled

  • David Dao's injuries were ignored

United did wrong, and will have to own up to it

@fgh - this is so true...

Honestly, if he was supposed to see any patients this morning, they're lucky that the crazy guy couldn't come into work.

Let's wait and see what additional details surface, but this guy is shady as hell

David Dao was just covered by the major Honk Kong portal (on.cc) - I've grabbed what the translation of the last paragraph is, it seems he's went to school in Vietnam...

David A. Dao was once accused by male patients, in exchange for s-xual intercourse with drugs. David A. Dao took the initiative to cancel the doctor's license in 2005 and was allowed to resume trading last year. Online information and show David A. Dao is a graduate of Ho Chi Minh City Medical University. The document also means that David A. Dao's wife is a doctor.

This is plain nuts guys...

Elizabethtown Doctor Indicted On 98 Drug Charges

(ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky.) -- A Hardin County doctor has been indicted on more than 90 felony drug counts.

David A. Dao, 57, of Elizabethtown, faces 98 charges of illegally prescribing and trafficking prescription painkillers. Dao formerly worked at Hardin Memorial Hospital and owned a medical practice.

A co-defendant, Brian D. Case, 28, also was indicted on 33 felony drug charges.

Prosecutors allege that Dao and Case fraudulently filled prescriptions at various pharmacies in Elizabethtown for narcotic drugs such as hydrocodone, Oxycontin and Percocet.

Meanwhile, Dao is appealing a conviction in Louisville on charges of writing prescriptions and checks to a patient in exchange for s-x and part of the drugs the patient obtained with the prescriptions. He was acquitted of seven other counts of obtaining drugs through fraud and a trafficking charge.

Similar charges in Nelson County against Dao were dismissed.

Daos license currently is suspended by the state medical board. He is classified as inactive on the board's website.

Dao and Case are scheduled to be arraigned in Hardin District Court on Jan. 24.

No, check THIS out:

http://www.state.ky.us/agencies/kbml/finalorders/22439.pdf

To summarize:

The dude from the flight IS a doctor...who was indicted in 2003 by a grand jury for criminal acts of trafficking in a controlled substance, obtaining drugs by fraud and deceit, and unauthorized prescribing, dispensing, or administering of controlled substences.

During the investigation of all of this, it was discovered that he had become s-xually interested in a patient who was referred to him. During the initial evaluation, he performed a complete physical examination, including a genital examination, for the patient who had been referred for collapsed lungs and chest pain.

He then made the patient his office manager. Then he quit his job, and they ended up in some weird situation where prescriptions were exchanged for s-xual acts.

In 2005 he lost his medical license.

In 2007 he completed a clinical skills assessment, which demonstrated that his knowledge was "outdated and also contained gaps that would not likely be fully explained by his time away from the practice."

He showed that he "lacked competence with acid-based disorders, ventilator management, ventilator-associated pneumonia, and current evaluation and treatment of shock," which is hysterically ironic considering his current predicament.

"It was not clear whether Dr. Dao has a health condition that could impact the practice of medicine." That inspires confidence 😛

He had to complete a "Maintaining Proper Boundaries" program.

He was evaluated in 2009, which concluded, "It is the opinion of the assessment team that Dr Dao is not safe to practice medicine at this time."

He also was diagnosed with a mood disorder.

In 2011 he was evaluated again, with the following recommendations:

1) He attend a residential program to address his character deficits.

2) He completes a polygraph without evidence of deception.

3) He completes a professional boundaries course.

4) He submits to random urine and polygraph examinations.

5) A highly structured practice plan with a restricted DEA license is set up if/when he is able to return to medical practice.

He did go to a program, where his treatment focused on "his vocational s-xual misconduct, personality traits, depression and anxiety, trauma, and relational issues with his spouse and family."

The assessment he completed in 2014 noted that he demonstrated "significant and broad deficiencies in areas common to primary care," his knowledge of health maintenance was "globally inadequate," and he demonstrated unacceptable knowledge of basic physical examinations and medications.

Despite this, he was finally given a limited license to practice in 2015.

Honestly, if he was supposed to see any patients this morning, they're lucky that the crazy guy couldn't come into work.

Now, this is interesting as it's indicating "Drug Related Offenses" on the behalf of the licensee (David Dao) - this may not be the guy, but how many David Dao doctor do they have in Kentucky?

http://www.state.ky.us/agencies/kbml/finalorders/22439.pdf

In October 2003, the licensee was indicated by the Jfferson County Grand Jury for criminal acts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, Obtaining Drugs by Fraud and Deceit, and Unauthorized Prescribing, Dispensing or Administering of Controlled substances. (Page1, bullet 5, stipulation of facts) - It gets more interesting, "During the Board's investigation into the criminal charges against the licensee, the Board learned that the licensee had become s-xually interested ina patient who had been referred to his practice, Patient A; during the initial evaluation, the licensee performed a complete physical examination, including genital examination for patient A who had been referred for collapsed lung and chest pain... Shortly after, the licensee made him his office manager." It gets even more juicy... Offered prescriptions, etc. etc...

Who is this guy David Dao? I've seen his name on the news as she screamed while United was trying to get him off the flight?

Maybe people will realize that what airlines are doing is not that great after all.
