Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco just had another Cut last Friday - March-9th

We lost 2 people in our team. Its continuous and un-stoppable. You never know when your turn will come. We had about 10% impact last Friday - March-9th. I think it was about 5% overall.

7% bump in pay, but no annual bonus

Increase was on base only. Bonus % equal to what I would be eligible for at CSCO. Perhaps even better, as it's measured on my performance against documented objectives and not some phantom corporate track that isn't provided to the employees.

I have no ill will against CSCO. But also tired of re-arranging the deck chairs each quarter.

7% bump in pay. Had several offers within the first 30 days of interviewing. One I accepted took 49 calendar days. It is refreshing to feel wanted and valued again.

7% bump in pay, but no annual bonus, so it's really even (or slightly down), but now it's guaranteed and not IF CISCO meets it's goals or IF MY management decides I'm worthy or not.

It is SO refreshing to feel wanted and valued. My immediate management valued me, but somewhere above my manager or his manager, that value/want evaporated.

The sad part is that there's no end in sight of when the LRs will end or that we'll hit the bottom. It's just week after week after week of layoffs. Then Chuck and Co will have their Cisco Beat conference and make it sound like all is well. There was a "VP and above" conference this week in SJ, and yes the message was "We're doing great!"

Bang the drum Chuck, keep on rearranging the deck chairs...

"The constant layoffs really drives a sh1tty culture of people always looking over their shoulder and not being focused on taking chances and doing great work."

This exact quote, without the language, was actually on the internal quarterly feedback website under "We are listening, what we hear" or something like that. There were a few other similar quotes.

The problem: there was no answer for it. So, they hear, but it doesn't seem to mean anything.

@1bwp, Congratulations. How long have you been interviewing and getting an offer? Are you getting same or higher pay?

Done with the Cisco Hunger Games. 2 week notice given this morning, and for the first time in a long time, I feel great.

I heard open stack was totally killed off 100+ people, Many Service Provider roles throughout the company as well. IoT spaces were impacted as well as a number of field positions. My team had a 70% impact during this most recent LR. Little or no coordination with business continuity, total mess at the moment.

Heard a story of someone who was recently acquired, moved here to San Jose 1 month ago from the EU -- with family in tow, bought a house 2 weeks ago... They are in total scramble mode -- could you imagine that a company with 60.4 Billion in cash has to throw away super talented and dedicated people over and over and over again... Cisco will be required reading in a few years for all MBA classes -- how NOT to run your company.

+1 with @MkDEFMm-pfp Lots of folks taking credit for your hard work or worse of, polishing non-impactful or effective project or initiative as being off as impressive and transformational. Management is eating these up all the way up the chain. Only if they knew what really happened:-) LOL

This is my first LR, being on the recipient side is definitely a new emotion. Definitely a feeling that cannot be described unless going through it first person. Reading the other comments on other threads; just recommend others giving reality time to synch in. Saddest part is the loss of trust in Mother Cisco. Second saddest part is my final realization that I shouldn't have maybe wasted effort jumping through hoops, many times over the years, to do the extra unmentioned crazy work for the diving catch. For those staying, be good to your co-workers and make sure you are involved with a high-priority visible project. Don't let others take credit for your contribution. It's all common sense, but regretfully once in for a few years, it's easy to separate common sense from reality. Don't let anger and irritation take away who you all are...a very smart person...you are smart just to have gotten employed with Mother Cisco.
