Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

PART 1

I had been a wholefoods team member since 2014 and I went on maternity leave Nov 2016 and returned Jan 2017 to a straight hell hole all because teams had combined and Cruella became my new Team Leader. When I returned back to work my son was only two months old and I was worked 8 days straight from 12 to 8pm or 1 to 9:45 pm with no day off. Then after two days off, I was worked 6 to 2pm 5 days straight, then two days off and then worked back on the night shift 5 days straight. So I went to talk to my TL because the shifts and hours so up and down was taking a huge toll on my life being that I'm a single parent of 3, a ten year old, 4 year old, and 2 month old and as long as I been at this store, my schedule never got in the way of my parenting. So when I explained to her that the shifts was taking a toll on my life and what are my options for a more flexible schedule and I was willing to move down from full time to PT or PT20, she basically told me welcome to her world when I'm a single mother of three kids and she doesn't have no children. She also told me no matter if I'm full time, PT, or PT20, she still have to schedule on the store needs and if I can't work those shifts I won't have no hours. So I tried to talk to the STL about this and i was constantly getting blowed of by him. So Cruella ended up re doing my job dialogue that was done in Nov 2016 before I went on maternity leave but when I returned in Jan 2017, I was told it was lost which was a red flag. She scored me at barely (2) meeting expectations with only being my TL for a month when I was always scored at exceeding expectations (4) like I was on my Nov 2016 job dialogue that was all of a sudden lost. So of course you know I got a very low raise. She also told me during the job dialogue meeting that I was intimidating, look mean and scary, and that team members in the store were afraid of me and those words ripped my heart right out of my chest. I then went and talked with the STL about this and he told me that comparing me from last year I was happy and this year I'm not and whatever issues I have outside of work, I need to leave them outside and I just couldn't believe that he would blame my personal life instead of supporting team member happiness and excellence that Wholefoods supposedly been about and I told him it's not my personal life it's the changes in the store because I'm very happy when I leave here and go home to my kids and my new baby boy. I was kind of shock because it seems like everything that Cruella did, he backed it up and favoritism was all in the air like I had been hearing but didn't actually believe his head was stuck that fair up in Cruella butt but reality was kicking in. I was so depressed and in emotional tears for days of how I was being treated and how exhausted I was so I decided to write a 6 page letter and send to regional on Feb 26, 2017 after being back to work only a month to be exact. Regional reached out to me several days later and after speaking to them, I felt much relief and was actually at peace and happy like I was before maternity leave and they reassured me of why I chose this company because I let my career go to dedicate myself to this wonderful company I thought. Several days after that, my schedule was changed without my notice and I received a no call no show that Monday when I had supposed to been off that Monday and Tuesday but a team member that was on that same schedule knew I was off and told them then he secretly called me and told me the schedule was changed because no TL or whoever changed the schedule was going to call so I went to the store that Monday and my ATL told me that she would make sure that no call no show didn't count towards me because she knew something on the schedule was changed and she asked me did I want to stick with the schedule I had and have my other day off or go by the changed schedule so I came in the next day on what supposed to been my day off. It was so hard trying to balance life and work being that our team of five people was down to three and that made the work 10 times harder when someone called in. Several days after that on March 7th, exactly ten days after I sent regional a letter and five days after I talk to regional; I was scheduled to work from 1-9:45pm and the morning person from 6-2pm had called in so there was no one one our team until I came in and the store was a total wreck and it had taken me 2 1/2 hours to get everything together far as trash, recycle, the floors, etc... Around 3:30pm I walked past the STL office going to the breakroom and seen Cruella in the STL office with the STL with the door closed and i didn't think nothing of it at the time because that was a completely normal scene when I came back to work after maternity leave; then all of a sudden minutes later I get a call on the walkie from Cruella telling me to come to the STL office and I already knew I was about to be terminated and I told regional this on the phone and I constantly expressed that in my letter and said I pray I don't lose my job behind being vocal about my concerns and sharing my story and I was but was told that I couldn't be. When I arrived in the office with Cruella and the STL, on the desk were a separation packet, a corrective action form from Oct 2016 that was filled out, and two blank corrective action sheets that I was asked to sign before I left but I refused because they were blank so what was I signing blank corrective action forms for and I'm already being wrongfully terminated for what they claim to be time and attendance from last year Oct 2016 the STL say he could've terminated me on then but looked over it and he decided to use that same corrective action and terminate me on then saying I was on a final that I never knew about and had only been back to work a month and my slate was clean in Dec 2016 before I left like I was told by my previous TL who I adore so much. I've never been on a final and been with this company since 2014. So I just told them that I knew they were going to terminate me but I didn't know how or when but I knew it was going to happen and I told them two thanks and have a nice day and quietly proceeded out the door torn apart being that I gave my life to this job, ordered all the store supplies, and I literally worked my butt off. During that month of being back, I received $25 in wow bucks from an ASTL from another store that was covering for someone in our store. And then you terminate me after I get your store in shape because the morning person called in, why not terminate me soon as I clock in would've been better than to use me first like a slave. After my termination, I received calls from team members in disbelief that they actually terminated me, the dedicated single mother of three that order all your store supplies and is very dedicated to this company after she has only been back to work a month from maternity leave.

I believe you because it goes on in other stores it's why I left. I found another job and got the hell out management "Team Leaders" became abusive if they decide they don't like you even though you've been doing a good job for years or they just think they can hire someone cheaper they will start on you hell they will make it up! Lie! maybe not all Store Team Leaders and if not them they will get their STL to do the dirty work and get the TL to go right along with it.

I have no regrets I left the hole I found another job and I hope all the good people can get out its a soul s---ing place. I would not recommend the store I worked at not until that leadership is gone! I just don't see WF getting any better it continues to go downhill and it has become a hostile, along with a very low morale among the TMs. What does leadership expect anyone that has a brain and can think critically can see right through the kook aide.

I say good riddance and hope better days are down the road for you they have been for me if you are a good talented worker things will look up for you!

The way some people respond to errors in people life should be ashamed but of course this is an anonymous site so I understand why. I feel like if you don't have good advice for someone at a time like this in their life then keep your ignorant thoughts to yourself. I worked with this person at Wholefoods and this new management did her absolutely wrong. She was an excellent team member. She was dedicated, always had good job dialogues, and was willing to help in any department. Anyone who knows her would have nothing but good things to say. The only reason she not here is because she voiced her concerns to regional and they found out and got rid of her. She was a good team member for 3 years ordering all the store supplies and training others. All of a sudden in one month after being back to work she's terminated. You negative people are sick on this site judging others. Can't no one judge but God and she's probably a good mother than your mother ever been while people keep thinking she can't afford to take care her kids. Her kids are well taken care of because every woman has a back up plan. A--holes

Why would you have so many kids you obviously cannot afford?

Sorry, you can sue them. Get a lawyer!! They are one of the worst companies to work for and are greedy and deceptive. And the Regional office is no better. It will be a challenge, but in the long run, you'll be better off not working there, because they are going DOWN! They seem to have violated some basic Labor Laws and your Rights. Sue them!!

This goes on everywhere. That's why they are bringing in so many Astl's from the outside with no experience in the grocery industry.

I led some of the most profitable teams and comped in every department I was in for 10 years . I left on my own because of the BS. Just move on and apply to other stores. Trader Joes has very consistent scheduling. Don't worry all the Stl's and their cronies will be next to go. Also im not called negative because I don't want to do yoga at Trader Joes. Sorry for the way you were treated.
