Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Where are the Sears cheerleaders now?

So after yet another post on this site that turned out to be right... where are all the cheerleaders at that continue to stand by the company. This site is not just about gossip, it is about facts, and for all of you in denial that this company is burned and nothing will bring it back I hope you are happy with how you stood by it while it gave you nothing. Funny how you are alway out saying things are fine and what is said here is just negative post, well please come out now and say something positive about 400+ people being laid off in a single day.

@2wbw I haven't said anything was wrong. And I also am not disagreeing with anything you are saying. I really don't think most companies treat associates well when they lay them off. The premise of a layoff anywhere is never a positive one for the associates involved. I even remember how Walgreen's used to be known as the company who never laid anyone off, and then even they started laying off people.

2itu- I will ask the most obvious question--- What information on here was wrong? For the most part this board has called almost every layoff and coming store closing. And as you state, "Also I just figured HR clued everyone in." And therein lies the problem. Some people think that this company runs like a normal company where they would give a clue or some sort of warning about coming layoffs but NOOOOO,they have to just call you in and give you pink slip. Herd you like cattle to fill out paperwork and escort you from the premises.

That is why this board is important, that is why this board matters. IT matters because at least someone is telling us the truth, it matters because at least we can complain, b**ch, and know that we are not alone going through this. Yes, most people will continue to work for SHC becasue of time invested in this compnay or no other options, some will find other employment. But all of us should at least be treated with dignity and respect not only as associates working for a company but as human beings and when that doesn't happen I will call them out.

@2xrl The "tone police" don't mind anyone posting on here with accurate info. The "tone police" if that was a reference to me as I try to be positive never would swear at someone. Also I just figured HR clued everyone in. I am sure they feel bad too. That is their job. It is awful that so many were laid off yesterday. I think we all realize how shaky our company is right now. I just don't blame that on any one person. I am not resentful or upset with anyone. All I have ever tried to say to other associates is you can either be upset, resentful, or you can just say it is what it is and move on if you choose to. If you harbor resentment, it will be hard to get another job as that is easy to read in an individual.

Ignore the tone police. They don't know anything and don't have anything to help (besides prayers, lol). Despite the negativity, this board has been eerily good at predicting all but one of the layoffs in my BU.

"I was just trying to give a little information to maybe help people cope and to give a heads up but I guess i'll just stop since no one really care or is offended by it."

Now 1ugy, don't let some Pollyannaish Kool-Aid drinking corporate shills get the best of you! You perform a service that is immensely appreciated by the vast majority of people who visit this site. The information and observations you provide would be sorely missed. Without the informative posts that you and other concerned associates provide, this forum would just become another Pebble!

1xep- There are numerous post on this board where they said to "shut the fk up" but I try not to use that language. On almost any post you will see someone who tells everyone to quit posting negative things and to stop posting about layoffs, store closings etc. I posted last week one of the original post telling people about this weeks layoffs and was told to "shut the fk up" and quit trolling.

I work at corporate, I hear things and notice things. I also called the last round of layoff because I noticed the conference rooms that were booked for the same time on the same day.

And on and on I can go with what I and others have shared on this board. We all know that we will all lose our job sometime, maybe tomorrow, maybe next week, maybe next year, who knows

I was just trying to give a little information to maybe help people cope and to give a heads up but I guess i'll just stop since no one really care or is offended by it.

@jqk I didn't remember reading where anyone said "shut up." Sometimes it's good to give out info in advance especially when you are close to it. I actually thought whoever gave the info was from HR as they are the only ones who would have this sort of knowledge. That being said, I don't think anyone's head is in the sand. We all have known, as someone rightly said, over the last two years or so that we may or may not have jobs in the future. I mean there is no shock here. It is awful anytime anyone loses their job, but we work for a shaky company right now that obviously has to make some big moves to try to stay in business. Before everyone jumps and says all their negative "Sears ain't going to make it" or whatever horrible phrases, I am not naive.

mmk- All the post of big layoffs coming this week. Many people said to "shut up" and quit spreading rumours. Well seems just like the last big layoff and the last three rounds of store closings---the board was spot on. So either get a clue and your head out of the sand or be surprised one day when it is you who gets the layoff notice. They are coming for your job someday.

That's what you get for hiring a bunch of Indians at the middle management level, a bunch of no skill a-- kissers to Eddie and his cronies. They are the c---roaches of corporate America, once one gets in twelve others will follow. See you in Chapter 11! It's a shame Sears has passed the point of no return.

@wbb Agree with the $900,000 bonus thing. You are right that kind of money would have saved many many jobs.

@dxc Poor taste? No, poor taste is giving an exec a $900,000 bonus a few days before laying him off, while you have hourly people getting laid off and they get 8 weeks at wages less than what McDonald workers are fighting for. Do you know how many people who are going into work each day and putting up with crap while watching people get the ax around them, only to be the next head on the chopping block. $900,000 could have saved 30 jobs for a year. 30 people who actually do the work that keeps things moving.... but here is the thing, the company doesn't want to keep moving. They want to run their scams and sell valuable assets to themselves and their friends for pennies on the dollar.

These execs are looking for a new place to hop to before the ink is dry on the $500,000 signing bonus they get.

The only things false I see regarding Sears, is Eddies lies about how the media is to blame and how the company is trying to stay afloat. Eddie just wants enough time "afloat" to sell the profitable chunks and maybe spin off SYW (which aside from the member data is worthless)

@nor That is nice. You must know who I am, and I AM trying to be positive. As of today, I still have a job. And I will not try to sugarcoat anything that happened today.

I wonder if the lady (I assume it's a woman) who shops at the Dundee Sears was affected? I feel bad if she was because as she posted more frequently, I realized she was trying to be positive.
