Look out for 3 clusters of reorgs/closures/cancellations. July 2017, Nov 2017, March/Apr 2018. Those who are still around after June 2018 can come back and discuss more. Until then please work your a-- off including weekends and holidays to maximize your chances of successful redeployment. Good Luck.

So whatever may come ... here are some observations from a recently departed Intel employee of 20 yrs:

a) there's an Intel Pension Plan! Lo and behold - there's a pension plan (for some of us). Not sure when they discontinued enrolling employees in the plan, but I was hired in 1997, and surprise-surprise-surprise I found I had a $60K pension lump sum benefit available to me on top of my profit sharing and 401(k) plans. IMO it was somewhat hidden in the fidelity 401k website - but its there for some of you at least. Of course you can leave your benefit there with Intel and in another x years get a payout from it ... they also only allow withdrawals of the plan on the quarter (e.g. 1-Jul).

b) You can sign up for the Intel CORBA health insurance, but be prepared to pay thru the nose for it ... $1500/mo for me, wife+2 kids with the "cheap" high deductible Anthem plan.

c) They will offer life insurance as well through "Minnesota Life" ... the rates are "meh". I think you can get better premiums via IEEE if you are a member if you need it ...

Left Intel 2 years ago. Looks like things have gone from bad to worse reading this board. Time for Intel to spin off or sell off all non DCG, CCG chip units. Then consolidate DCG and CCG and TMG as the new Intel. Layoff all the fellows and VP's and start all over again. They are responsible for the current mess.

Nothing less will work

Lots of nervous folks and hey should be nervous as Intel has never been under more siege and future in question.

After all that was why they had the silent ACT and the ACT and went on crazy aquisitions in a desperate but failed attempt for turnaround.

If you feel the company has turned around then go back to work. If you don't, don't wast your time here get a new job!

I sense panic in the underperformers at Intel.

"Moment of truth" What an odd comment. There will be no "moment of truth" here This is like watching one of those nature shows where a pack of wolves slowly pull down an elk as the narrator whispers into the mic.

As for nothing happening, Intel canceled: Galileo, Edison, and Joule - last year's "growth engines". Their stock closed well below the lower support level of $35.00, and they cut Xeon Pi prices.

http://www.cpu-world.com/news_2017/2017061901_Intel_cuts_prices_of_Xeon_Phi_processors.html

One of the better weeks for those of us watching this particular high-tech nature rerun.

Business is booming!

X86 growth in client is back

Severver growth is back

AMad is nowhere to be seen with any products to challenge our pricing

Our yield on 14 are at records and 10nm is simply awesome and will provide even more compelling products and profits

We aren't spending money on products or marketing that doesn't directly result indirect sales and profit.

Yes that pig is indeed flying now!

There will be no layoffs. BK and his people know that moral is damaged after last year. However, there will be lots of redeployments. Which at the end it will mean more people out the door.

Whether they happen as the trolls predict or not the fact is unless x86 and server sales go to double digit or AMD falls on their face the business prospects and cost will require more cuts at Intel.

Thinks this thru as the intel fanboys want you to think all is well, they know it isn't, and so will you if you have any clue, ACTs are all but certain

OTC has an open forum on Friday. Their reorg announcements are to be sent out by team managers before that occurs.

I don't give the trolls any credit for predicting layoffs. They've been "predicting" it everyday for over a year.

Right. Some groups will say they are working on it and should be done by end of July. Others who have already been determining 'efficiencies' will roll those out ASAP. If you really don't think anything is coming, simply ask your manager how stable your group and funding since there are lots of rumors after NDG/Maker close-downs. Judge how they answer.

I personally give it until end of July, per the mega thread, "mother of all layoffs"

There will be all-hands group meetings and 'changes coming' emails at the beginning of the week. My whole team and previous team are all expecting it. If I could post the email sent by my manager on Friday at 4:50pm, I would.

Fair enough. Except there were tons of layoffs and cancellations in NDG in JUNE just as people said. Wearables, Edison, Galileo and Joule are completely GONE. Remember that Maker TV show about using our boards to make cool stuff? Ummm yeah, let's not talk about that. It doesn't exist.
