Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Any news about WFR in EMEA?

What's about Germany, Italy, France, Eastern Europe all countries with strong regulations about severance. Any news, schedule, plan about the future of all these Employees?

It's 6 weeks before the end of the next quarter. It was a question, not a statement...

It would seem this is a targeted, as opposed to blanket, announcement. Not everybody is getting a notification, so presumably those who don't are safe for this round. Unfortunately, it also means you can't volunteer, should you be so inclined.

WFR scheme just announced in the UK. Same terms as last time around (so the generous payments are still there for some).

Sorry to hear the WFRs will hit EMEA soon.. inasmuch we want to believe leadership will have some "conscience" to do the right thing, it's not the case here. In USA, they have done everything to squeeze out pennies (pence) from the WRF employees.

The CEO - ML only interested in golden parachutes to secure his stock options. All the best across the ponds to my colleagues in EMEA...having planB for another job outweigh the value of severence package..

@2end

I'd hope they wont get away with it. However the fact that DXC is a hybrid of CSC and HPE ES, who had differing policies, and CSC was the smaller but dominant partner in forming the new relationship will muddy any legal arguments.

IBM were able to change their policy to statutary terms without challenge. People who returned to DWP through TUPE to BPDTS also saw redundancy and pension terms that they believed were contractual altered. I fear the fact that payoffs are policy rather than contractual may work in Lawrie's favour going forward.

Has anyone seen a VR offer yet today?

@1fxg No doubt DXC will try and reduce redundancy payouts. However, they may need to tread carefully in the UK; they have offered the same packages for some years and it any attempt to reduce packages may fall foul of "custom and practice" rules.

It doesn't take a genius to work out that a new round of WFR will be completed in 6 weeks from now and that in the UK lead time is................... always about 6 weeks.

With HPE ES have put a proverbial bullet in the back of the head of a new batch of UK&I staff in 31 out of the last 32 quarters I'd say it's a pretty safe assumption. The only question is have our new CSC masters screwed us over on the payout?

I completely disagree - sorry. First: UK is part of Europe - or did I miss some continental shifting?

Second: There are different models regarding employment regulations in place at every country. They differ also inside of each country depending since when you are employed. Conclusion of all these contracts and regulation is: If the company have to pay any severance by law. They had to hold money back for these cases. Its count as part of the employment cost and never payed out as long as nobody leaves the contract. If the company decides to get rid of a person it has to pay the specific amount. On the other hand: If the company torments a person so long that the employee decides by himself to leave - the company has won and gain the money. That‘s the game that's going on the last months.

I already lost mine thanks to Meg. I wasn't being nasty, redundancy is funny fir no-one. I was just pointing out a simple truth that UK laws make it easier to get rid of us than those in Europe. Brexit won't make that better, quite the contrary.

We have nothing to blame but our own unwillingness to fight back.

Europeans are about to get slammed, but it won't be person by person like it is in the less-enlightened regions. It'll be site by site, no questions asked. Good go with the bad. Bulgarian and German sites. Bulgarian based on quality, German based on cost.

Germany is one of the next countries for work force reduction. The management is already negotiating with the works council and the outcome is expected in the next couple of weeks.

They cannot get rid of us fast enough.

Europeans, and I don't include the British, are bright enough to realise that society should be run primarily for the people and not solely for the benefit of business. They therefore have an enlightened view of employment law.

Britain, in all it's ignorant self important arrogance, just condemned itself to following the route that the US and Asia has chosen. Expect the UK to take the bulk of job cuts in EMEA.

Europe has strong labor laws as compared to Capitalist USA and Asian cattle. In case you are on bench for 6 months or more then probably you would like to rethink.

Current targets are India and Australia , but there are not many Australian employees in DXC.

India has quite a lot of non-technical departments which are of no use at all to the business of the company. Most of them relatives of some manger or some other employee.
