Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

We Do Not Owe You Anything

Diversions from the truth are tactics used for centuries. The truth Cisco has become a We Do Not Owe You Anything company and Cisco will do anything to keep the wallets fat of those on the top even if it means laying off good people that devoted their lives to make the company billions.

ELT make theses "hard" decisions quarterly and don't blink to tell the people how these restructures are to make the company great again then jet off in their 350K cars. Keep kissing their a-- es while they keep chopping heads like taking candy from a baby.

Whether it's 20K or 20 people it does not make a difference people are getting axed and WE conform with these "CHANGES" while they sip martinis in their 20 million dollar homes and most of you are barely getting by.

... I am begging to be laid off so I can get the package and start somewhere new...

So just leave you greedy a__hole. Why do you feel you deserve the package? The package is to take care of the person suddenly let go and not ready for the sudden loss of income. If you can find a job so easily, save up your PTO, get a new job, give your notice and start the new job the next business day after your last day at Cisco and pocket your unused PTO as a mini severance package/bonus.

Luckily, I've been able to find a job after getting smacked by the Cisco LR bus and got to pocket most of my severance package, but there's been other times a company I worked for lost their contract and suddenly let everyone supporting that contract go and could not find a job before the severance ran out. It's not always easy to get another job. ESPECIALLY when there are 10's or 100's of you in the same career suddenly competing for that same position at the same time because you got hit by the LR. Other companies know how many people Cisco let go and can decide to be picky about who they hire due to the flood of potential candidates. Grab a new job now before the layoffs and leave on your terms.

I hate to say it, but stick it to Cisco by quitting. Given that Cisco is an "at-will" employer you don't HAVE to give 2-weeks notice either. Just don't leave as a jerk because you might be working with your fellow Cisco employees somewhere else and they'll remember how you left.

It's just a job. Jeez, there are many, many more jobs out there, especially in San Jose. Hell, I have been here 8 years and I feel it is too long, I am begging to be laid off so I can get the package and start somewhere new (which happens pretty damn quick here in the Bay Area).

Cisco is an at-will employer. If you don't like it quit. Go back to doing your job and stop wasting time on this site. Or, if you forgot how to work, please continue shivering in the corner of your quiet room wondering what come next.
