Several of us in the Denver office were laid off this morning. It feels weird to be let go but it's also a huge relief. I don't know anyone who enjoys working for Oracle.

@drd - Fusion product development?
Oracle, sadly, is the worst company I have ever worked at in my entire 30 year career span. I met some great people - please don't get me wrong, but what incredibly bad leadership. What kind of sick psychotic human being (s) think up this abusive method?
Yes we all stayed far too long for the flexibility and even defended the company to others . Until the rude awakening though most of us were trying for a job but not seiously. The serious ones found better jobs. The way it was done was very disheartening also .. my friend at another company was kept in payroll and benefits for at least 2 months plus severance. Not this way - close your computer and don't talk to anyone and get the hell out if the building in 60 min . No chance to even say goodbye . Fortunately people I cared about were already in my phone contacts . Yes no job yet but glad to be out honestly .
Same here as I was repeatedly warned but I thought that was only for the sales folks - not true. Rude awakening - hard to deal with and also the enormity of it all for so many - and yet the CEOs are handsomely rewarded and stock price is up today.
I have been in this industry for 20+ years and this is hands down the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of working for. To say the culture is toxic would be an understatement. Every person on our team is looking for work outside Oracle. In my region, prospective Oracle customers HATE Oracle. Every one of my peers warned me before I took the job but I didn't listen. So glad this abortion of a company is in my rear view mirror.
You will love your time there until you are tossed aside for no reason and laid off - this is the pain felt by many here
Oracle is a wonderful company to work for. I love my time here and feel very well compensated for the role I have in the company. I appreciate the world class people I get to work with every day and feel proud to help make Oracle Cloud(tm) part of our success story. I fully support our executives and know they have the best interested of myself, fellow employees, and ORCL shareholders at heart.
File for unemployment right away .. extra on top of severance check . Am using it for skill development ..
Amazon is hiring like crazy in Colorado right now. Three offices in DTC, Downtown, and Broomfield.
Do you know how many were cut in denver?
I am familiar with some people in the Denver office. I understand why no one there really wanted to work there. No mobility, no raises, no promotions, evil managers to deal with.
I think that's what they mean. Somewhere there has to be a better place than Oracle to work.
Unfortunately, some of these people have been there for 20 years or so and don't have much else to put on their resume. IT might be one solution, rather than a tech company. I know someone who left Oracle a little while back who went into IT where they needed to be able to use oracle's tools.
@iyn - Fusion
I'd be reliefed too...living in the limbo for a long time is no fun.. just let me go already or something else
Sorry to hear....Which area were you? Jde? Fusion?
Anxiety and anticipation is gone - hence the relief...
It is never easy to find jobs...
If you have current skills then you should be fine. Took me 2 months for a much better company in my field, better package, significantly higher salary, and bizarrely enough despite having 10 years plus at Oracle, better vacation
i understand ya bro... but wait till ya put that oracle crap on your resume... but yeah man do what you need to do now to ward of their evilness
Relief? Because you assume you'll easily replace your job?
Might wanna check out the layoffs at pretty much every major Tech company. Maybe time to pull your head out of the sand, reality is gonna be a bit of a shocker.
