Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

There's no way we can keep our PODs up and running

After all this talent drain our cloud offerings for Fusion Apps are toast. No one left to even try and keep the lights on now. Things were bad before, but now it's completely game over. Anything that breaks will stay that way. There's no way we can keep our PODs up and running without any skilled engineers.

Firing engineers will not have an immediate negative impact on revenue. It takes at least a few quarters or even years for the lack of a skilled workforce to be reflected in a lack of new sales. The people in charge have no intention of sticking around that long. So they have nothing to lose by laying of all most all of the experienced / skilled staff. Our customers are totally boned.

It makes one wonder: why are they killing the systems group? Sure, it's in a slow decline, but it turned a profit, at least as far as I know, If they're burning through cash, shouldn't they hang onto every dollar they can make?

I could understand minor adjustments to head count (like last January) to keep systems profits steady. Or are we going to hear in September that Systems sales are in free fall?

It's now a race to the bottom. Hardly anyone is making money in cloud.

There is a good chance that Oracle is burning through cash and needs to stop the bleeding.

It's like a startup inside a dinosaur.

The only way they can fight gravity is through strategic acquisitions.

Every employee needs an exit strategy. Sticking your head in the sand will not make this go away.
