DXC Severance - COBRA Reimbursement

Ex-DXC AMS here. I was laid off in April and am still waiting on the reimbursement of 30 days of COBRA premium (I had to pay it out of pocket first to start coverage). Anybody else still waiting? Or if you received your reimbursement, when did you receive it? I've tried calling ES Benefits, HPE Benefits and DXC HR....but all to no avail!

Was laid off in May. Said all benefits will continue with auto enroll. I never got an enrollment material. Finally called as my medical provider said my insurance was deactivated. I was told I have to tell them to activate it and will take another week and only medical no dental or vision... I have asked them to expedite so waiting to hear back. My one month ends ina week!!

I was laid off at DXC at the end of 2017. I have time and time again tried to call their benefits number (never resolves to an operator for over 40 minutes). I have not received any COBRA information for over 60 days. I was also supposed to get a H-1B payment but have not received that yet.

Neither of the email addresses for ex-employees are being responded to and there is no number to call HR.

Is anyone else in a similar situation?

OP, did the amount of COBRA you were reimbursed match what you paid for your one month of COBRA, pre tax or post tax?

OP here. Yes, my severance package included reimbursement of 1 month COBRA for medical (but not dental). They only reimburse it IF you elect COBRA coverage and pay for it out of pocket first. Relieved and happy to say that I finally received it.

DXC pays reimbursement for 1 month COBRA (if a laid off person choices to pay 1 month after being laid off)? So that means part of the severance package includes 1 month of paid COBRA?

It's my understanding if you get laid off from DXC they do not pay any COBRA for you - it's totally the individuals choice to continue coverage via COBRA and to pay your own COBRA costs. Everything I"ve heard and read indicates DXC stops your Medical and Dental Insurance the day after you last day of work.

So what reimbursements are you referring to- DXC reimbursing you for what regarding COBRA

@OnCR62f-4bfp: I think they handled my last paycheck/healthcare deduction okay. But here is an update on my original post. I called the ES Benefits Center being run by AON (1-844-315-3803) and finally spoke to someone who (kind of) helped. They told me that people are reimbursed within 90 days of the day they received your first payment of COBRA premium (not within 90 days of termination date). So we'll see if that actually is the case...

I was also let go in April. I was told the COBRA reimbursement will come 45 days after you have paid at least 1 month. I paid the first week of June so I expect it sometime this week or next. Also, DxC took out 2 weeks of my health insurance on the last paycheck but discontinued my coverage at midnight of my last day. So I would be paying for the last 2 weeks of April twice. I raised this with them and they sent me a reimbursement of what they had taken out of my last check immediately. Did the happen to you?

: @OnCR62f-1ofs, thanks for sharing your approach in obtaining credit. In my personal experience in comparing the ACA vs COBRA, the COBRA was 3 times more. There are other factors involved besides the age based, earnings subject to the eligibility verification period, etc.

The recommendation is to do side by side comparison and based on each individuals needs. Yes, one should pursue all options before engaging a lawyer..glad to see they were responsive to your quest.

I found COBRA was several hundreds of dollars less per premium than ACA for the equivalent plan and had more health providers available to me. COBRA is limited by law to be cost (employer+employees) + 2% admin fees of the group policy holders plan. ACA has age dependent pricing that COBRA didnt which caused the huge difference.

I had multiple issues with COBRA billing that needed to be straightened out along the way. I contacted DXC who told me to call the third party administrator who sent me to their agent, who pointed the finger back at DXC.

When I wrote dxc.com my notes started with "Ultimately you are my ex-employer and responsible for providing COBRA with a 2% administrative fee. I have no contract or obligation to work with your third-party administrators and/or their agents. " I got a response 100% of the time within a day.

I found the money owed to me was credited by the 3rd party admin's agent to future month of COBRA billing. It took months for them to do that. No refund check was ever issued.

Since this is COBRA maybe you should start with the Department of Labor or IRS, instead of an attorney.

Anytime! You are most welcome. Explore other cost effective medical insurance coverages if feasible. Inasmuch affordable care has its shortcomings, you may want to look into that as a stop gap alternative. it all depends on your personal situation.

Sorry for your dilemma. COBRA is very costly. Understand some may need to keep the continued coverages for good reason. Recommendation is to send certified/registered mail to the benefit department. Given the conduct (or the lack of conduct) of this organization, I would not count on any "trust" that they will make good of the "promise".

Protect yourself create a paper trail so if necessary you can take legal action to get the reimbursement rightfully yours. I know it time consuming and tiring.. start with sending them a registered/certified mail...
