Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

My advice to everyone is...

Prior to working at humana i worked for Medicare and a few hospitals... when i first started working here i couldn't understand why non licensed people were allowed to give medical advice (I'm not licensed and every company i worked for was very strict about what i could and couldn't do or say esp medicare)...i just figured Humana had found a loop hole around the issue...

i think that it has finally caught up with them and they were trying to get out of paying all the extra money they are going to have to pay nurses and social workers...i seriously feel this is why they are doing the layoffs in stages...

giving them time to hire people to replace the others... my advice to everyone is to move on now if you're not licensed (i know I'm looking) it's easier and less stressful looking for a job while you currently have one...ijs

Yes, I’m a “bad guy” for sure. LOL.

@Q0iFUSd-1vat Even though you thought it was wrong you still took the money? Just who is the bad guy here. You assumed it was wrong and Humana assumed it was okay...

I was a PHC and I was uncomfortable whenever responding to alerts to talk to members about hepatitis meds, foot ulcers, or even asking “do you have any questions about your discharge instructions?” I have no medical background.

I've worked for both too and thought the exact same thing when i first started...i still never gave out medical advice while speaking to members...i would always say check with your PCP or i will have info regarding that sent to you...i knew there was no way every other company in the US had to have licenced professionals but humana didn't to give out medical advice...i was wondering when it would all hit the fan
