Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Please stop looking for and hoping for transparency

First, I want to wish the best to the people impacted in this last lay off. I've had friends impacted by each lay off and they are ALL much happier now.

Now, for the less soft message. Watching this all go down this year I'm in shock that EVERY SINGLE TIME, people thought it would be the last one. They did a lay off every quarter. There are 4 quarters in a year. At some point, we have to stop deluding ourselves. Watching this go down and reading the chat is akin to a cheating spouse cheating over and over and over again and expecting his/her words to hold weight. If you believe anything this company tells you at this point, I worry for your wellbeing. If you weren't let go in this round - PLEASE wake up and start putting your ducks in a row. Because if not, you'll get the same as your friends and coworkers are getting today. HAH as it stands today is ending. (No I don't have "inside" knowledge but I do have intuition.) But your beautiful lives are just beginning. Take the power into your hands and prepare your plan. If you want to stay for severance, then go for it - but do not wait to find a job. The process can take much longer than a severance lasts.

I do wish everyone the best. And my intentions were not to make anyone feel worse. But please. Please. Wake up. Walk away from the abuse. Prepare your plan. Empower yourselves for the future. You deserve better.

A little nervous - no, I'm no longer with Humana. I left on my own accord. But I feel similarly to you, in that I worked with the kindest and most genuine people ever in my time at Humana and I want the best for all of them, the ones who stay and the ones who were laid off. I know it's scary. I started looking 5 months before I secured a position. It started with a few applications a week and turned into a few a day, with heavy activity on LinkedIn, Networking events and messaging friends/contacts every second I had free. It was not easy. Luckily, as a nurse, you have amazing skills that will make you a huge asset to an organization. Since you do have time, I would begin the process now. Make that resume beautiful. Get on LinkedIn, seek out recruiters. Apply to jobs you want and are on the fence about. Remember it's a numbers game. Message people directly. Message people in your desired role and make connections. I truly wish you nothing but the best! As I do all my Humana family. Wonderful people who deserve to be treated as assets not dispensable.

OP Thanks. Helpful advice. Are you still w Humana? I am still here HCMRN but I’ve been getting ideas about what to do if/ when it happens. I’ve been through these things with RN hospital jobs and restructuring and non RN jobs. It’s unsettling but I have to remember each time I came out ok on the other side. Or even better. I’m wanting this not just for myself but for the many many wonderful kind hearted smart associates in so many department that I’ve interacted with during my 5 years here.

Agree. People are in epic denial. I’m just kind of hanging on until the end of the year, see what happens. Hoping for severance.

I was an HCM-SS. I left in May. I found another job before I left. I now work 32 hrs/wk with benefits, including PTO, dental and vision. Medical was offered, but I receive $ instead. Wishing everyone the best.
