I am still alive and a lot happier, VZW is no better off, increasing debt and loosing ground with the competition and making a more toxic work environment for the people left.

I was part of the 2015 RIF too. I've been at a few different companies since leaving VZW and I'm finally in a really great place. Yes, it's less money, but money isn't everything. My family and I made some adjustments and we are truly better off. Good luck to everyone facing another RIF, it will never end.

It was very nice of VZW to pay me to retire, as I was going to anyway the end of 2015. And I don't miss the commute traffic one iota.

@Q62BuSt-dxa....LOL, good one. So many RIF-tees are too embarrassed to write they have not found a job paying like Verizon for work / non-work performed.

I was part of the 2015 release program. I am now working at my dream job (3 miles from home) and my health has improved.

As soon as they stopped beating me MY moral improved.

Congratulations on your 25 years of service to a company...It's unfortunate you didn't get to leave on your terms, but that's most of the World these days. Your upbeat attitude tells me your doing just fine and your words that you just can't forget 25 years of friends and life gives me hope that the old saying is true " Good people always land on their feet "

All the best in life, I believe you deserve it.

thanks for posting!

I am the OP and i am not a "dude" by the way. I still have friends at Verizon but I have moved on - It's just not that easy to forget 25 years of your life and the people you worked with every day. Maybe you have never had to experience a layoff but if you have or haven't, please don't pass judgement on those of us who have. Thank You

I Still haven't found do-nothing job that way overpays with full medical and matched 401K for doing nothing, but other than that I'm fine.

One thing is though I'm so happy not to be complaining about my do-nothing job that way overpays with full medical and 401K
