Sounds like the Radio Shack - Tandy train scenario, they didn't learn either.
If that happens, then most store customers (guests LOL) will riot if you refuse to put on their screen protectors and hold their hands with everything else. Blame Verizon for years of phony customer service instead of telling them you can do everything yourself, look it's so simple ! ( like the Mgmt Team)
Retail may not be getting knocked this round, but they will get hit eventually. The new "next-gen" concept has an aggressive rollout schedule, at least here in the west.
We have at least 20+ stores in NorCal alone that will be converted to this new store layout by the end of the year.
In addition, by the end of this month, all stores out here will no longer be doing any setup services whatsoever. That means no content transfer, no screen protectors, no nothing!
The goal of is (and this is for real) is to have the customer in and out of a location in less than 20 minutes...regardless of why they came in.
So, anyone who thinks they are safe in their retail position, especially those barely making their minimum goals, needs to have their resumes ready.
Be clear...Verizon wants to be a utility, plain and simple. A service provider, and that's it. They want our stores to be pickup point for equipment.
Of course, they'll unrealistically expect our reps to sell guests add-ons and the like. But with 20 minutes to play with...good luck.
Speaking of good luck, if you decide to stay at Verizon long-term, you'll need it.
Retail won't be impacted on 11/16. Maybe sales ops or some other department that supports retail.
Retail morons think they are the only Verizon employees and the world revolves around them.
All IT companies have RIFs towards the end of the year, at V it's generally in November and on the last Thursday towards the end of a pay period in that month. All things considered, if you could pick a time to be RIF'd, now would be it, next year would be better. There are plenty of jobs for skilled hard working people, if there are job openings inside the company in your field, you have nothing to worry about. It's almost a good time to be a skilled IT worker in America again!
My boss says we all should be updating our resumes and be prepared. Already well ahead of them
@xfy know true. Today great web cast global diversity. Many opportunity Verison career post for agile worker. Worker no lazy watch the foot ball NO PLAY WITH FOOT.
It’s fake. Confirmed. Nothing is happening on 11/16. This site is wrong way more than right.
I’m hearing no such rumblings of layoffs in my part of the NEM. Not a peep. Not from the managers, DM, trainers, ops.... it is silent. Either HQ had a tight lid on it or these folks just don’t know. Makes me wonder if a layoff is going to happen at all this time or if retail is even included.
Managers know what is goin to happen, they just don't know if they will be included.
@jap - "Troll" please go back under the bridge you came out from under. Your replies are getting old.
