Our Store manager was overheard stating that the store wasn't required to do ''The Survey'' so it was likely we would see Christmas 2018. What is the survey? Does anyone know?

They were in our store just this past week measuring and accessing the building.
The Survey is an assessment. We had the survey team out a few months ago under the guise that they are preparing for possible future upgrades....right.
Nope. They come out to assess their real estate fir future sale.
@riz Sounds like that was at a Kmart. Did your store have a pharmacy? If so, had the pharmacy already been shut down before the store closing was announced? There has been some speculation in prior threads that for Kmarts, loss of a pharmacy can be an advance warning, due to stricter regulations on the shutdown process requiring more time to get patients transferred to other local pharmacies.
Our store manager did not know until the MORNING of the announcement. The DM met the morning crew early in the AM, and took the manager straight back to the office and told her... Then told her to call the morning associates back to the office immediately. When asked if she could have a few moments to compose herself, he said 'no' and delivered the announcement.
After the news was delivered, the DM had the cash office associate and frontend lead disconnect the lottery terminal and Western Union equipment. Signs were created to inform customers of the layaway closing and no more lottery, western union, and hunting licenses.
The store manager was at the service desk when each shift came in to make sure they went to the office to listen to the announcement speech. It was awful.
Our store manager didn't know that our store was closing until the evening before the announcement.
None of the store managers know jack sh--. If they tell you that there is no way they will close, don't believe it because they know as much as you do.
Honestly your manager isn't high enough in the company ladder to know anything about what keeps stores safe from closing.
Ha ha. The whole company will be gone before Christmas 2018.

I wouldn't put much stock in what a manager tells you or some arbitrary factor like having to do a survey. Eddie himself is taking it on hour at a time at this point so if your manager thinks he's got it figured out, he should call Eddie to tell him how this will go down.
