Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Preparation for layoffs is in the works

In the mid Atlantic DMs have just been directed to promote several hourly associates to emergency keyholder positions in preparation for the pending layoffs.

We don’t know yet how they are going about the layoffs but we believe they will drop the number of ASMs per location and call it a “continuance of the previously announced restructuring”. Those ASMs will be replaced with hourly employees with keys.

Our store in the North East is now running on 1 SM, 1 Ops, and 2 department supervisors with keys. 2 ASMs left in recent months, and we’re hearing they won’t be replaced, and word from our SM is that a big region-wide restructuring is coming in March.

What store us this Sm from, go ahead and tell it will come out anyway. There’s a SM in the Midwest that should have been fired for the same thing, of course they kept it quite and he lied!! More of this is going to come out, irs about time. This company is dirty from the top down.

How likely is this?

The hourly with keys position has been in place for several years now in the Central territory. Very low paid full-timer with the expectations and treatment of a manager. Several department managers with keys were replaced by these hourly employees with keys after the first round of layoffs. My store manager has been placed on PIP recently after reporting a s-xual harassment claim involving regional “support” to corporate HR. Things are bad in our district and morale is in the toilet. Many are actively seeking new jobs, but there’s very few equal paying retail jobs out there.
