Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Still No New Notices in Greenville

Manufacturing has been notified, but any word yet on the various engineering groups located primarily in Greenville...all those teams under Lammas (Leary, Schaeffer, etc)?

Morale here is in the toilet. Every single engineer that I know personally in Greenville is looking for a job outside GE. All plan to leave ASAP, layoff or not...the constant benefit reductions, stealing a week’s pay, delaying the 401k match....and to top it off, the ever-present threat of layoffs. I’ve had enough of GE, and will be gone 1st opportunity as well. There are still companies that treat employees as human beings. The brain drain is going to seal the fate of GE.

This is what GE wants. The more engineers and OMLP grads leave, the less GE has to pay in severance packages.

Just continue to work hard and do what your boss says out of fear. It will be over soon till the main gauntlet drops don’t enjoy the holidays this year thanks to GE.

Manufacturing folks took their drug test and had interviews this week. They will either have a job offer by Friday or not. The other teams such as sourcing likely will not follow this process. They will simply be notified. Timing should be consistent with manufacturing - notification by Friday.

Ya for sure. Lammas is a good guy in a tough spot.

100% agree with those sentiments. I experienced similar situation with a different team, leading up to and after receiving layoff papers. Bottom line, does not matter if past equivalent EMS days showed top performer. The “buddy” crowd, kool-aid cult armed with PD will absolutely throw anyone else under the bus to save their own a$$es and not look back at your well being.

I could not wait to get the hell out the disfunction that had taken over the last few years. Thankfully GE finally did me the favor. There is great life after GE !

I believe there will be consolidations of groups. Two groups will become one and that means one of the managers will be out. The upcoming layoff will impact several layers including some E bands.

When I got let go, Lammas understood how hard it was for me. The others smiled to my face yet cut me off at the knees. I will never forget it. Granted, layoffs are hard all around but when they lie about you for politics sake, it shows what greedy fools run that place. Now they are all running scared. No moral compass but they got shiny company paid cars.

In a video put out today, the head of HR for power was ask how GE plans to retain the top talent. Her answer was to challenge us all to think about what “makes us proud” to work at GE.

What an out-of-touch d-bag!

GE not only knows what the actions will be taken they already know who’s head is being cut on both the manufacturing side and engineering side in Greenville. The manufacturing interviews going on now are only for “optics” (GE’s favorite buzz word).

We should learn more next week after the investors presentation. Most should already have mtgs on their calendars with Flannery, Lammas (and others), Mastrangelo. Nothing from Stokes yet. Bottom line is engineering managers have submitted names to HR and waiting for feedback. Thought notification was to occur shortly after Thanksgiving in the US. 40% is not the number, at least not for the first round but expect more in 2018 especially if orders don't come in soon.

This seems to be the common thread across all GE businesses

The number being rumored is 40% cuts. True or not, no idea!
