Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Why ----- is going out of business...gradually

So, I've heard it once I've heard it a thousand times on this board. Sears is going out of business. Its the longest bankruptcy sale in history, a slo-motion bankruptcy. Sure they are. We are not the first retailer to faces a challenging environment. Read this article from 2012, 2012 when this companies stock was in the toilet and people were saying they were going out of business in slow motion.

Oh, and then they transformed...

Nice conversation but none of us knows the future. It is what it is. If you absolutely hate your job or feel you are being mis treated, it probably is best to move on. If not you just keep working as nothing in life is guaranteed.

O.P., we are all so tired of the transformation drivel. Give it up. No one believes it.

Also have to add t technically they were heading to bankruptcy until Kmart took over with Mr. Eddie Lampert. So yes they were done, but they were picked up and only for gain that Eddie is getting off from Sears. Being backed up buy a billionaire is what has been buying Sears time, times running out as soon as their is nothing else to sell Eddie is calling it quits which might be the beginning of 2018.

The worst Best Buy never looked as bad as the best Sears.

Circuit City, Highland Appliance, Fretter, Silo, Rex, Montgomery Ward. All still better. All gone.

Best Buy was headed for bankruptcy and then they dumped their CEO for inappropriate behavior. The new CEO is the one who turned Best Buy around. Amazing what competent and knowledgeable management can do for a company.

@fql Also, Best Buy (and 99% of other retail companies) has more competent high-level people than Sears/Kmart. Lampert is trying to run a retailer like a hedge fund, and it's been a long, slow decline since 2005

@Qm3TlYI-1tcj That is very true. But Sears for sure will not be one of those businesses that stick around.

Bankruptcy does not mean going out of business. Bankruptcy is how businesses try to stay in business. Many large companies come out of bankruptcy and do really well.

Best Buy had nowhere near the debt or bad public relations that Sears/Kmart has and Best Buy had stores that were updated and had merchandise that people wanted to buy.
