All of the other retailers had some gimmick to get people through the door. Jcpenney had a free $10 off $10 coupon hand out with 1 in 100 getting $100 and 1 per store getting $500. All of their stores had people lining up at the door... they also had a 50+ page Thanksgiving/Black Friday print ad distributed for every store, while Kmart and Sears have print ads only for select stores. Corporate won't say but I'm betting it was only the top continental US stores they don't want to fail this year.

@xxd Yes, if you'd clicked the link, you'd see it says Kmart.

Never even saw one Sears commercial when I was watching the parades. (Some of the competitors, sure.) Sad that they rarely have any anymore and I guess forgo reminding people that Sears exists and might have sales they want in on. :(

@QoyvG8C-epc Still, don't expect a large fleet of people lining up at Kmarts or Sears this year compare to other stores tomorrow.

Not trying to justify the complete lack of people but I don't think some people understand how much 'black friday' has changed. It's gone from being one day to being a week long event. There's no urgency to get to the stores anymore because you c an get that same deal online from home. Not only that, you can get it the entire week and not just at that time. So yeah there aren't many people because Black Friday is just another day of the week. Most people these days only do it for the novelty.
