Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Anyone know any numbers?

Our store was down $120,000 for Thursday and Friday compared to last year.

@3mel Okay let's get real here. He knows what he is doing. We just might not all like the outcome.

If you only give 5 pages or whatever it was to Kmart, you know what you are doing. There was a nice ad for the Sears stores.

  • A lot of stores probably had a hard time making their numbers because no ads were distributed in the newspapers and no one can answer as to why that happened.

Here is why>>>>

Eddie's brilliant strategy-save a Billion in expenses this year> Seems allot of it in advertising expense

Seriously by design, the year of SYW, time to drive loyalty repeat visits> Make Eddies transformation complete. Oh and the new credit card. That will drive sales.

Don't think you will see much of that tomorrow in the sales results.

The numbers are already released in another filing

-15% total Same Store> -17% Sears> -13% Kmart Extremely bad sales losses, impossible to profit with these revenue losses. Business 101 that Eddie never took.

-$1.3 Billion in total revenue $5B in 2016 3.7 in 2017 -26% total loss of revenue YOY

There are allot of Zeros in 1.3 BILLION

Here are the numbers....32 page ad last year, 5 pages this year.

Sales fell in line with that. Very few stores even break $100K sad

Extreme double digit drops.

Highest volume store in this area is one currently in liquidation......

It is the end, I saw Zayre's go out in similar fashion, Woolworth's also. It is over folks....

@1vdt. Ads were in newspapers at least for Sears. Kmart ad was just a couple of pages on the back of the Sears ad.

Think it is safe to say, by the beginning of next year, Kmart is pretty much dead and Sears will be on further life support.

Suffice to say - Sears had a very spotty and not great Thanksgiving weekend. The one time of the year where things might gone well and it still ended going downhill in some form or fashion.

We were down 150,000 for Thurs Fri combined compared to LY....The loss of electronics is making a big hit in sales.....Our store used to do at least $80,000 or more in D/3 and 57 on Black Friday when we carried a decent assortment of Tv's and cameras.....This year, electronics is down to a couple of aisles with ear buds and some home security merchandise.....So many product lines shrinking because vendors do not trust Sears to pay its bills.....

This is probably going to be the final Christmas Season for this company in brick and mortar form.

Good to see some stores did well. We were down about 50K from last year when you combine both Thursday and Friday. Wish we would have done better but we ran out of some merchandise, particularly DieHard workboots and the 1/2 price Wolverine workboots. Penny's was also very aggressive in appliances in our area. They had special pricing in our specific area to capture the business.

From Thursday and Friday we were down $92,000 grand thats just insane its like that wasnt even enough to beat Friday itself from last year. My manager was so moody you could see he was holding it inside. We could of done better if maybe they would of invested on preparing to have the floor look spotless.

But man I never expected to do so bad and its delusional that people still think Sears can still make it. I mean I understand a few thousands dollars below to plan and last year, but this is insane almost 100k down to what we did last year its just insane.
