I have an offer at hand. My new employer wants me to start as soon as I can. I told them I will give notice on Dec 8, which is when the bonus is paid out. Ideally I would give 2 weeks notice. If I give less two weeks, such as 1 week, will I still get paid for unused vacation? I assume there’s no way they could take my bonus. Anything else I should be aware of?

Ask your new employer if they're willing to compensate you for any lost bonus (which I highly doubt). If they aren't willing to do that then give 2 weeks notice to QCOM the day you get your bonus. 2 weeks notice - or even 2 seconds notice - is not in any way legally required but 2 weeks notice will make sure you don't burn any bridges. Background checks ask future employers if you gave 2 wks notice so you don't want a black mark on your permanent record. You are starting your new job right around Christmas anyway - most people aren't doing any work anyway.
F@&$! I am jealous! I want to get out also, but Q paid my relocation expenses and a sign-on bonus when I moved to SD, and if I leave before end of 2018, I have to repay a portion. But perhaps I‘ll just bite the bullet and do that.
@cnl LOL what?!? Qualcomm must be the first company you‘re working for.
I was lucky enough to get into Q with an above average salary, and I am only milking the cash cow now until my house is paid off, then I am gone. Every company I was at before had a significantly better atmosphere, culture, management, team spirit...
Giving two weeks notice is a courtesy - not required. Get your bonus and head out to a better life.
Stay at Qualcomm. It is the best place to work.
I am pray for new job. Please pray for me. I am so unhappy at Qualcomm but I keep getting raise and bonus. Please pray for me. I am in office with door close crying begging God to take me home.
Lucky you, OP. I have two interviews coming up next week.
They won't take your peanuts back...
