Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

FMLA Question:

How do I take FMLA for mental illness/stress? Is that an option? Does anyone have experience doing it?

Thanks.

FMLA is not paid, Short term disability is paid and works in consort with FMLA. The amount of time off is based on your tenure in wireless.

The claims are all now handles it Sedgwick, FMLA, disability, and work comp.

You can take disability and FMLA for an reason that the doctor believes you need it for. I worked with someone that took time due to Psychiatric concerns. It wasn't the customers, it was the managers, he was one of the best reps in the store and still constantly getting sh-- on for stats. "$3200 commission? Not good enough, here's a written."

Guy was off for two weeks, came back for two days and got more sh-- , including getting yelled at for using his disability, went out for the rest of his disability time.

These managers s---, they don't know sh-- about the laws around disability and think they have control over it. I guess that's what you get when you promote based on how well people can lie and slam.

It’s not provided anymore genius. And my manager is adamant that we send customers packing if they didn’t buy it here. I wish you could come into my store so I could call the cops on you when your entitled butt refuses to leave.

I’m stressed out because the parasite in the wireless store got in a hissy fit when I asked them to transfer my data to my new cell phone that I purchased online....as a matter of fact, nearly all of wireline purchases their phones online then go to the wireless store for this free service that you provide.

You sound like a real worthless outside tech. Are you stressed out sitting in the truck reading the papers and farting in the seat? Just quit and be on your way.

Best time to take it is right after the holiday in February. That way you can take 12 weeks and not have to come back until the end of May....just in time for another holiday....and you won’t be missing out on any other holidays during that time frame because there aren’t any.

@kgo

Sedgwick is for workmens Comp...you can go to your regular doctor and tell them that you are stressed out. Have them fill out fmla paperwork, then fax it in. You WILL be approved as long as the doctor agrees that you need time off for stress. FMLA is paid leave for up to 12 weeks....it has nothing to do with Sedgwick. It’s between you, your doctor and the company.

Fmla is unpaid just fyi. You go to a doctor tell them the situation and then the company (Sedgwick) sends paperwork for them to fill out.

You might as well take the full 12 weeks, with no overtime now you get paid the same to stay at home

Not hard at all. Simply go see your therapist, explain what’s going on. Let he/she know that you NEED Time off. File the claim & REST! Verizon is indeed stressful. Take & USE the benefits they provide..........especially since it seems like they don’t want to pay anymore anyway.

Good Luck!

I did it once. Was a huge headache with forms faxes and dr. appts and emails and phone calls and not getting paid until everything finally was accepted, but it was cool to chill and do nothing for 12 weeks...

As far as helping you, you have to help yourself and ask this silly question to your union steward instead of asking us...
