Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Perspective - Time Line

You have to realize this is all a thought out very strategic plan. SF stifles the communication for a reason. To put things in perspective it is only the second month of the year. In that time frame. CIR, AD services, Claims mgmt, LD, Claim Reps and Tacoma folks all have Qtd dates and least we not forget Systems who are in a Bloomington limbo hell that I can't begin to imagine. The next up is Underwriting and Bank. This is not a layoff people. This is a strategic reorganization of a legacy company into a smaller leaner company that is just trying to stay afloat till they figure out their next direction. SF doesn't not care at all about their employees because the goal is to not have all the tenured associates. What they did to the proximity employees this morning was bs. Get all you can and get out. It's a sinking ship. And that's literally, 150k + policies down this year and that number is only growing.

Thursday announcement decimated claims. The claims training division alone was cut by almost 80%. At a time when the revolving door of minimum wage employees requires continuous training presence, including facilitators and developers, they basically juiced the whole operation.

Take your severance and run. And look at T2. Most of my team is burning pto rather than getting a check for it at the end to get out earlier. Let it fall apart. Everyone left behind will understand.

State Farm lost billions, billions of dollars last year. After 95 years....hmmm..... policyholders are leaving because the premiums are high and customer service is awful. The CEO and directors and VPOs need not to run employees with tenure off...look at the people they have hired. It's not rocket science! After 95 years...it used to be a great company.

Our office has been affected by office closure, but yet we have not received our QTD. We were appalled when a section manager from our office was not offered a job and instead got a qtd date; Yet several weeks later 52 SM and executive positions opened - really is the intent to get in younger, less salaried SM/ execs? The way they opt to treat employees is terrible.

I believe ourr founder rolls over several times daily. The ethics that our founder established such as honesty, integrity, compassion, caring, and trust are long gone. The lies that management portrays is uncalled foR and disrespectful.

Regarding policies, we were told that we lost 1 million policies due to less people on the roadways, more people take an Uber's and public transportation. Really? Do you think your employees are that stupid. My household alone saved $1,200 alone from switching. We were told the reason for this transition was what the customers wanted and we would be more efficient benefiting the customer premiums. All I kept seeing was the premium dollars going up. We did not opt to switch because of our office closing notification. The final straw was when we had a claim and had terrible customer service we had throughout it. With our office closing, it was beneficial to save $1200 Per year. SF has no loyalty to us and No loyalty to them.

I would hope that people will begin to accept that this change is going to take place and not angry as its is not worth affecting your health. There are bigger and brighter days ahead for all of us and people already stated there is life after SF. Do not let them s--- the life out of you and your family.

Sure feels like age descrimination to me. Used to be I was well thought of. Now that I am early retirement age, tons of pressure and I can do no right. And yes, I am seeking Attorney input! And yes, I have found much cheaper personal insurance.

Hang on to your hats folks. State Farm is so bad at strategy, planning and execution that they will pay you to leave and then be forced to call you back when they can’t staff these roles in the hubs.

Enjoy your holidays. The pendulum is always swinging in the extreme opposite direction here on the farm!

The bank is an operational nightmare that has never been on the right path, or any path for that matter. Deposits are stagnant, the mortgage product is a joke and vehicle lending has no clue how to compete in the market. The bank has been developing new software for FIVE years and it’s still not right. That’s absurd and unacceptable for even the smallest operations out there. The 1940’s business model the company runs on is dead and has been for a long time. Bank products are difficult to sell and the company continues to make it more difficult for an already under-trained sales force to make sales. It would come as no surprise if they annnonce a complete shutdown of bank next month. Frontline staff takes a beating and leadership believes metrics are the solution to everything. Yet we rarely see a shakeup at upper management levels or leadership and haven’t for years. Let’s put some metrics behind their performance as leaders and executives and see how that looks. But wait, the results are too ugly so we stopped that. It’s very unfortunate for the employees. The best thing they could do is drop the ‘serve our customers better’ motto and throw in the towel. You’re running on fumes, State Farm.

As a current State Farm employee who was impacted by the reorganization, Ive watch several of my friends leave or retire from The Farm. The choices the company gives are irrational. They’ve become a metrics based organization ever since Tipsord started putting his hands in the cookie jar. And how’s that working for the Farm? It’s not. Claims have gone from a 3 day time service to a 3 week time service. Agents are passed around when calling with questions. Back in the day, State Farm was the company to work for. Now they’re ranked three hundred and something on the top 500 Best Companies to work for list. Rather than being a progressive company, they are regressing into just another crappy corporation that doesn’t consider their employees as a valuable resource. But, rather rely on metric and the bottom line. So, how’s that working out? Not well. People are cancelling policies in droves. Nice job Tipsord. Thanks for turning a great company into a less than mediocre one.

Thought out and strategic?

Rofl. Have you seen these miserable do nothings? Maybe you should watch their Lifetime inspired videos again. CDE was an admitted 1.8 billion bridge to nowhere. With 24” rimmz. An Dey spinnin. “NoeBodiee done nuffinRong”.

The prosecution now rests.

Can anybody share with me what's the latest announcement on layoffs and which groups are impacted? I left the company 4 months ago. I was facing a QTD date of November 2018. I decided it was personally not worth it for me to stay for a Severance payout. It was the best career decision I've ever made. It saddens me to see a once great company going through tough times. I wish everyone the best of luck. There is indeed life after Stare Farm.

I haven't seen the 35,000 affected number before. Isn't that close to half the employee base?

I left in 2013 and will start drawing my SF retirement in 29 months (and counting down).

In regards to comment questioning employees a family cancelling State Farm policies. That is a certainty. The way they have gone about this is disgusting. Not only employees, family , retirees but neighbors and folks we meet in our daily lives....

I work for SF for the next 5 weeks, and I'd recommend the same. The place can't handle a claim properly anymore.

@RSaRE1q-blz sounds like something I'd recommend if I too worked for Geico such as yourself. ;)

Food for thought. What if all 35k affected employees or going to be affected employees dropped their sf insurance and had their family do the same.
