Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Each year I worked at Intel, these problems got worse

I worked at Intel for 35 years and every year the CEO (whoever it was at the time) and the upper management would say, year after year, that Intel made record quarterly profits.

But in the same breath, they would say that there is little money for raises, and that the profit sharing contribution will be less, and that my health care costs are going up, and that the bonuses and RSU grants will be smaller. But I was expected to work harder next year and pull in schedules and cancel my vacation time while they spend billions buying back Intel stock.

So all you RCGs who think I am some old fart whining and moaning and jobless, just know that I don’t HAVE to work anymore. I took retirement, and the cart full of money from the 2015 VSP. The money works for me now. I don’t have to get up every weekday morning to drive in rush hour traffic for 2 hours and do the same after work. I don’t have put up with BK’s b---s--- policies and HR’s childish ethics yearly classes requirements.

I don’t have to deal with a bunch of foreign H1B visas holders who cannot write an email in comprehensible English any better than my 9 year old 4th grader, and who cannot drive or park a car properly, and who could not engineer their way out of a paper bag. I don’t have to go to endless meetings to watch PowerPoint presentations given by a bunch of PhD RCGs who cannot speak intelligibly. Each year I worked at Intel, these problems got worse. So glad I left that Hunger Games environment.

So all you RCG's, keep working until you drop. It's nice to know that you are all funding my Social Security checks.

OP made it sound as if the entire company is made up of RCGs

@1glg. Remember at Intel, the focal process is such that "job performance may not matter, only brown nosers stay on their jobs".

yep very similar experience as OP, except just 17.5 yrs as i came in mid career. just celebrated 6 months anniversary elsewhere, took the early retirement of 55 , which is peanuts but its better than nothing, only after I had a secure job elsewhere. many FLMs never consider people that work hard, extend their knowledge and than take even more and more work. New FLM comes in , sees a hard worker, but doesn't want to be an FLM in that group, never did, wants something else , so just puts the hard workers to stock level 3 and tells them they cant get exceeds or Higher stock - just by 'doing the job' -- the end result is good hard-working people leave, and brown nosers are all that remain.

The OP doesn't sound like someone happily retired.

If you still have Intel stock (in shares or part of a mutual or index fund), you are now happily on the other side of the table... Intel needs to squeeze employees and pay the bare minimum needed, make promises, stay good things, etc. But make no mistake, employees are an expense and replaceable item with H1Bs or NCGs. Who cares if Intel moves stuff to China or India, as long as the stock price and dividend goes up. Work away, slaves, and BK, you need a bigger whip.

Spot on OP! I got the fruck out of Intel because they were giving me 2% raises when working my butt off and to add insult to injury, they expected me to perform at the job grade above me while passing me up for a promotion during focal. No thanks, and I'm happier than ever since leaving that sheethole!

You worked at Intel for 35 years and still have a 9 year old child? And I thought ugh that I started (or finished) late!

However, much of what you say is true. I’ve been here for 25.

H1Bs cost Intel more than citizens to Intel.

They get a same T comp as everyone else and also cost additional 10s of thousands in immigration lawyer fees. In fact the OPT (optional training program for F1 intnl grads) do not have to pay Medicare and ss until their h1b.

Why are 95% of rcgs h1bs? they all have masters and PhDs and do better in school.
