HR might facilitate the displacement conversations. But I assure you they have 100’s of more gray hairs going through this because no one wants to deliver that news. They also only facilitate the process for who is selected to be impacted. Roles and people that are eliminated are up to the Business.
It s---s. I won’t sugar coat it. But if only you knew the 20 hour days HR is working to do as much as humanly possible behind the scenes in the interest of the Associate, you might have a different tune. They will never be able to tell you how hard they fight for the right things and you’ll continue to judge them.
Have you bothered to ask someone in HR today how confident they feel in their job or how many of their team members they have lost in the last two years. And oh... don’t forget the times that they spend all this energy to try and make this as painless as possible in light of the situation only to turn around and be displaced themselves.
So get off your high horse and realize that this is an outcome of the environment. Not any one person or team. Quit throwing blame and do something to make yourself relevant or prepare you for your next career.
