Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

January 18 Humana layoffs

January 18th many rn’s And most PHC will unfortunately be let go. I would start planning for future as some of these could be immediately terminated

Heard the same thing about the date. I know people are saying that nobody really knows when exactly the layoffs will take place, but I've heard and seen January 18 too many times in too many different places for it to be a coincidence.

When you say, " it will be gone" or all the Rns will be gone etc, are you referring to a specific area on the at home side or the entire at home side of Humana??

@RdyXuYS-3rlw Gwenyth Paltrow? Really. You don't know my situation and I don't know yours. No I didn't go to school for this reason but I've been a nurse a long time. Tired of the hours and all the work piled on. So no I'm sorry I don't believe just anyone should give clinical advice. If you are licensed and trained that's different. I hate that anyone is losing their job. Especially this way. So no need to tell me to "get over myself."

LOL. I have to agree with 3zpb though. I also cringe at phrases like, “I saw it on Doctor Oz....”.

Wait, what? So I should remove coffee enema and rocks from my lady bits promptly? Thank goodness I came here this morning...that explains SO MUCH. Thanks for the laugh. Let's all take a moment to realize we're all in the same situation. People handle stress differently and some ways are more productive and less offensive to others. Share information and let others say what they will but let's appreciate each other and try not feed into the not so productive ways. Only we know what is best for us (maybe rocks in lady bits is helpful to someone-no judgment) and supporting one another and venting is really all we have control over right now. Hopefully we'll have answers one way or another soon. Good luck to everyone!!

The fact that anyone thinks because gywenth paltrow dispenses her pseudoscience woo as medical advice makes it okay for just anyone to give medical advice is why I fear for the future of humanity.

Let me say this as nicely as I can...

COFFEE. IS. NOT. AN. ENEMA.

VACCINES. DON'T. CAUSE. AUTISM.

DON'T. STICK. ROCKS. IN. YOUR. LADY. BITS.

Also, non licenses staff shouldn't be giving medical advice. It's called practicing without a license and is actually a crime. Health educators should be either talking about wellness (which is different than health, by the way) or referring to licensed staff.

I assumed the poster meant “clinical advice” as opposed to general health advice. And who can argue with that sentiment. I am not about to advise a member how to handle a feeding tube.

@RdyXuYS-3pvr Ain't you special. Non licensed people give health and wellness advice all of the time, heck even Gwyneth Paltrow does it. Be honest with yourself. Did you really go to Nursing School so that you could do your job over the phone. Ever heard of Health Educators? Community Health Educators? Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES)? You ain't so special, it's not like you are actually doing much nursing and from what i'm told many of the RN's are not very good at telephonic anyhow. Get over yourself. RN's, PHC's Social Workers and CHE's are all going to be hit hard. I wouldn't worry too much about who will be doing what. Most of it will be gone by May.

It's ridiculous to me that people get on here and talk to each other this way. I don't believe that someone without medical training should be able to give advice about health. So if there are no nurses then what is the point? I don't believe they will lay that many nurses off or I guess maybe I am just hoping. It's awful to me to do anyone this way in all positions.

@2eab, I don’t mean to throw gas in your fire, and I’m not a nurse, but that’s what the program is built around and it can’t be done without them.

I'm tired, I'm stressed. I'm the primary bread winner. I'm worried about my job now, and if not this time, the next time. Please stop the petiness, the ranting, the nonsense and stay focused on the fact that this is a lay off site. Not a b--ch about your raise or coworker site. Lets share information, try to figure things out and support each other. Doesn't matter if we are nurses or not......we are all on the same sinking ship and no one's seat is dry.....

If you are a RN here at Humana you make more more than half 50k. I make more than 50k in my role.

You do not get your APRIL 17-APRIL 18 raise added on to your one time payment. You would have begun receiving your raise in April of last year. You would only receive your raise for APRIL-December of 2018. Just 9 months worth. You don't get double. You do get an extra 7 or 12% of what the total dollar amount is. For nurses it's only 7% because you all make over 50k a year. I received my raise in July. My one time only is only around $800. I am only getting a raise for July-December of 2018. I wish I made $80,000 or more a year with my masters degree. I couldn't do what you nurses do so I'm not going back to school for that. Oh and 25% is just federal tax. That doesn't include any state taxes you pay too.

Hate on one another somewhere else. This is a layoff site.

Fk the nurses! I can't wait for every one of you entitled bi**s to get exactly what you deserve! This program will do just fine when all of you are GONE!!!! you're the reason so many have been laid off already anyway, if they wasn't paying your 100k salaries some people who actually WORK might not have been RIF!!

Taxes are 25%. Raises ran April 17 thru April 18, not in a calendar year so LOTS of associates will see a large one time payment because it’s for 17 and 18. If you were already set for you April 17-April 18 raise you got that percentage amount, then the base of 3% for the remaining months till January 19. Most I know received 2-4 k before taxes. And yes if you didn’t get the base 3% and your raise was already set for a different amount it is merit based....

I'm pretty sure most employees are already making $15/hour so although they are raising the hourly limit, it will not likely be much more out of their pocket. For those posters who are posting with certainty that certain areas will be cut, do you have a date? I've heard 1/18, 2/1 and 2/2 and it obviously can't be all of these. Are any of these correct? Waiting is the worst!

@2qca, i agree. Especially considering the email we just got. Why would they be raising minimum pay to 15 dollars an hour if they were planning to turn around and immediately lay everyone off? Too much hate and division on this sight most of the time. Especially aimed at nurses. Everyone resents the nurses and want to see them suffer. Prior to last lay off it was the same thing, people saying nurses were getting hit the hardest. It was a lie then, I'm willing to bet it's a lie now too.

500 HCCP rn's is pretty much all HCCP rn. I'm pretty sure there are about 1100 in all of hah, but not all of them are hccp. That's why I have trouble believing so much of what is reported on here. 500 HCCP RN would pretty much eliminate the telephonic program. So much fear mongering that occurs on this site, it's hard to actually pick out what's useful information and what's a bitter betty just trying to make others worry.

To answer some questions. Yes HCCP RNs are getting laid off. At least 500 was the latest number floated. One time payments for the most part are 3% of your pay and NOT based on merit. Some get more if and only if your coach had already planned for spring. Taxes are very steep on these payments because the IRS deems them bonuses and not regular pay. It is unlikely anyone will see a $2500 check but I suppose it could happen. Most were given raises prior to October so they will only see a pertcentage of a full years raise. No one under me is getting that much. In the end this has nothing to do with layoffs. Let's stay on topic.

Blinky....... do you know anything anout the HCMRNs in SNP? Well we be affected? At this point, it would almost be ok, I am so feed up with the worry and the stress aam d the piling on of more and more with less and less.

Yes your payment would be higher overall if you did not get a raise in2017. If you got one in 2017 say in June, your payment would reflect only an increase for last 6 months of year. If no raise in 2017 you’d get a payment for the whole year. & Can we please stop fighting about who gets what payment? Pointless.

If you were due a 17 raise and it was held, I think August and on were, then you get compensation for 17 and 18. Your coach can send you a copy of the breakdown and should have showed you yours. Mine did. Ask them for a copy. I’m sure they’d send you one.
