Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Smart Sense Coffee

Where did this go? Customers keep asking for it, are we ever getting more? Does anyone have any Smart Sense updates? At our NH store, we have no idea when the trucks will come or what they will contain.

@exy- those weird brands are the manufacturers who originally produced the Smart Sense product. They do not want the Smart Sense name on their product in case SHC goes BK and they would be stuck with product they cannot sell, so they are selling it under their own brand or brands. Most Smart Sense has always been manufactured by small independent companies or large companies who need to keep the workers working.

Nothing different than Costco, Walmart and others with their in house brand. Just cheaper ingredients or sometimes the same ingredients as name brand

The suppliers also probably don't want to go through all the effort of making Smart Sense-branded packaging. Think about it: the supplier must be convinced Sears is about to collapse. They don't want to be stuck with all this Sears-branded product.

Smart sense coffee is quite good, but so is victor Allen and Polka dot etc because they are all made by the same company.

Sometimes packer label products are substituted for Smart Sense items. Other times, alternative suppliers are used where transportation costs make the Smart Sense item cost more than the alternative.

We have lost many Smart Sense items too. Are they getting rid of the Smart Sense brand? Why discontinue stuff that actually sells well? Does anyone know what they are doing at HE?

Smart Sense K cups have been replaced by other weird brands at our Kmart. First it was Victor Allen, now some other brand appeared that nobody has ever heard of. It fits in with the strange cans of tuna, Harmony toilet paper, and Nice brand toothpicks from Walgreens.

Is this how Walmart does business?

Are there any plans to let the stores know about this? Or do we just have to guess?

Just like Walmart's "Great Value" products, the majority of Smart Sense products come from an agreement with the vendors where they provide their own product but packaged with our labels/store brand packaging. Our financial performance has caused several vendors to require up-front payment or early payment for Smart Sense branded products acquired in this manner. This has reduced or eliminated the selection of several SKUs based on the profitability and/or rate of sell-through of each item.

Haha! I tell every shopper I help to go to Wal Mart too!! They have associates, better product, and better prices!!! And...no lined at checkouts because they have self serve checkouts and cashiers they can afford to pay!! Even at their new increase and bonus! When will this hell hole be shut down once for all? Come on Eddie!!!!!! Kmart and Sears are a f---ing joke.

People actually drink Smart Sense coffee? Even the few associates that drink coffee at the store shell out a few more cents for short dated Folgers or Chuck Full O Nuts.

Lmfao your store manager should know that any item in Pantry can and should be reordered at the store level. Pick up an RMU and do it. Otherwise you will wait six weeks for the automated inventory system to push the order for replenishment through, if that will even happen.

But wait... DMs are telling SMs not to order any OUTS and just move other product over on the counters. Apparently this is a means of keeping the store's inventory lower. Meeting a metric.

Well dayum, that also means there's product that can't be sold if it isn't there, and just sitting in the warehouse.

It's a fuchsiaed up system, with idiots running the show. Who am I but an $8.72 an hour cashier/service desk/backroom/snack bar associate.

Trust me, the world will survive quite nicely without Smart Sense coffee. You have other more pressing and dire things to be worried about. Trust me on that too.
