Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Anyone else have a coach who is pretending nothing is happening?

PHC here. My coach is acting like we have a future. She will not entertain any discussion and keeps talking about meeting our metrics. She's talking about the future. She is either in complete denial or so afraid of leadership that she doesn't dare rock the boat. She is confusing our team and making some angry because she is always Miss Sunshine while we are in a panic.

I left Humana after the last set of layoffs. I am doing well. I am actually making more money and learning a lot. I liked Humana. I just got tired of worrying about not having money and losing my job. Really, MF is the one who ruined it. I liked my team and my coach. If you are worried, just start putting in applications. God will watch over you!

I just wanted to let you all know that their is life after all of this! I was part of the last round of employees that were impacted by the work force reduction. I lasted 3 rounds and then I was given sent the email. I was one of the top performers on all 4 teams that I was blessed to be on. I can tell you the stress of not knowing when it would happen to me almost put me in the hospital. I felt such relief when it was finally over. I loved what I did but I can honestly say I do not miss what you guys are going through now. Trust me when I tell you there are great opportunities out there.. I have utilized my resources and know that I will find a new career soon. God Bless and take care!! It will happen when it is sup posed to happen and it will be ok!!!

Wow-- I've been wondering what it's been like for everyone.... and quite concerned for folks remaining. H likes to keep things and people in line. Heaven forbid you to want the truth acknowledged or at least spoken every once and a while.....

I was one of the 'rif'd' and quite frankly, my first day on the floor, watched someone was escorted out via ambulance after having a heart attack-- the last-- on PTO tired of the toxic, micro-managed environment and refusing to 'drink the kool-aid.' I managed to last a while, although never 'fitting' whatever the mold was or even trying to. Whatever happens at corporate, please take care of yourselves. Your identity or value has not ever, nor will ever, be based on coaches, FLL's or other alphabet soup. This ship is sinking.... it is more than okay to leave before it does, and take care of yourselves... if that is what you want to do.

Life is good on the other side-- I don't regret the rif for a minute-- I hope y'all are blessed just the same, regardless of which role you have.

Poster: @RhDi1w5-1omg. You are correct and EVERYONE should follow this: Unless you are praising and sing Humana is great....... say nothing. Remember this saying, "Fly under the radar." If you don't, you're history.

I feel for many of the coaches. Whom ever decided to drill it into coaches’ heads that acknowledging reality is equivalent to being “negative” did a disservice to us all.

There is something to be said for a little realism, stoicism and the ability to handle reality. Denial can be unhealthy. It doesn’t allow us to prepare.

Our coach has acknowledged the situation and seems fine with us discussing our views and asking our questions. For those of you who have coaches that believe that this is “negative,” I’d imagine it is beyond frustrating for sure.

I had a teammate that always had something to say. He’s gone now. Had another teammate that use to want to speak up and that was noted in their yearly eval. It’s best to be quiet if your not saying how much you love the organization.

HCM RN here and my coach has asked if anything was on our mind but no one will say a word. We know better. You voice your opinion you go. Thank goodness for this site.

Right I would love to see the responses. We all know something is coming but can’t say anything or ask questions because that would be negative which is a no no.

Yes. Our PHC team chat has never been so quiet. I'm thinking of posting a picture of an elephant in a room on the chat just to see if it gets a bite.

My Coach has never allowed anything other than positivity. Anything other than glowing Humana talk is deemed negative. There is no opportunity to process anything. Having said that, her behavior is so different that she is causing her team to feel negative—well those of us that she doesn’t play favorites with. I’m so sick of this toxic culture that has become the Humana norm.

Pretty much the same on my team. No one says anything we just keep being worker bees and praying for the best. I’m sure we all are thinking what’s going to happen to our jobs. But being on a new team since the last rif many are not comfortable asking the new coach even though she’s approachable. My coach has been extremely quiet maybe she preparing herself and unfortunately she can’t hint or say anything because big brother is always watching or listening.

My PHC coach is reacting very differently than yours, stressing to us the importance of updating resumes and seeking opportunities.

I guess they are human and all different. That said, not allowing discussion of what is going on really is not healthy.

Even something as simple as, “I don’t know anything/ cant share anything but if you guys need to get something off your chests, feel free” - even just a small acknowledgment of the anxiety everyone is facing can be helpful.

Yes. While other coaches have been the opposite. I think some coaches are just scared. They’re trying to save their butts too. My last coach was RIFd & still wouldn’t say anything afterwards unless not on a recorded line. I think it’s just an extension of the poor culture that has been cultivated & lead to what seems to be happening now.
