Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Oh my!

A long term associate was terminated and then given their certificate service award, their pin, and a plaque. How infantile of a procedure.

I’m not classically nor academically trained in organizational effectiveness but I am educated and could have come up with a better strategy than that. It’s called use the common sense God gave you.

This isn’t nuclear physics people. We are all adults please conduct yourself as such. Embarrassing that these individuals who devised the exit strategy were hired.

Obviously you haven’t worked for the company very long! They do a lot of things. Nothing should be surprising at this point.

Nothing wrong with it in my opinion. Assuming this is a home office associate, they should have known their time was coming to get laid off, like many other long term associates. Also they get to keep their discounts for life. Who to say they won’t find another position within walmart within the 60 days? Also if they qualify for the severance package, hopefully will be a nice putting out to pasture..

I know of someone that had something very similar happen to them.

They were laid off on the same day they got the email inviting them to a reception to celebrate 25 yrs with the company.

I thought that was pretty shameful.

If this is not a joke, please send the details in a letter to Doug M. or Rob Walton. The culture may have changed, but the embarrassment should at least result is some accountability for whomever was tone deaf and said "congratulations on reaching your 25th year before we fired you."
