Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Did you get your severance yet?

Just wondering, for my fellow unlucky (or is that lucky?) souls...company was a day late sending my severance contract, immediately signed and dropped off same-day, HR lady told me they received but that they needed to wait 7 days to process and then another 7-10 days for my severance pay to actually go through...luckily I had money saved because I knew this layoff was a distinct possibility, but I also know some of my fellow coworkers are caught up in that paycheck to paycheck life.

Twelve-plus years working at this dump and that's more than enough time to know better...I bet those time estimates are optimistic, considering most of HR (including the lady I was working with) got s--tcanned...lol.

I'll reply back when mine comes through, since I assume I'm not the only one waiting. Hope y'all saved money for rent!

According to the FAQ that was given me:

Q3: Will the severance payment be a check or will it be directly deposited into my bank account?

The severance check will be directly deposited into your account if you have direct deposit set up today.

So, yes, I did read the paperwork I signed...

your severance isn't direct deposit. It's a paper check in the mail. Do you people even read the paperwork you sign?

Disappointment I didn't see a direct deposit today (2/23) with my severance. Is it going to be direct deposit if that's what I had for my paycheck?

Signed and emailed my release on 2/2, was told I was scheduled to be paid out this week. Hoping I see a direct deposit tomorrow (2/23). Up until this morning, I had access to Insite but today I tried to login and couldn't. Wouldn't let me reset my password either.

Called HR yesterday to confirm that they even got the release (I emailed it on 2/2 and requested a receipt when it was received, which I never got). They opened a ticket and said somebody would get back to me within 2 days either by phone or by email. According to Insite, I am scheduled for shifts on 3/1 and 3/3, even though my last day was 2/3. So, apparently, I haven't even been termed yet??? This just doesn't seem to be handled very well.

I received mine electrronically. Filed the paperwork on the 30th, and received check on the 9th. Funny thing is that the severance check tax deductions are stating that I am paying foy my current medical, dental, vision, which was soppusedd to end on the 31st. Paying for SS, ltd, std, 401k and all others.....and me not getting a termination in writing or exit interview seems to me that I still employed....lol.......haha.smh

4 weeks after signing and sending back forms, still waiting for check. Re read package and no matter what HR tells you, the package says 4 to 8 weeks.

I called HR in ohio and this is what she said: wait 7 days from the time you sign and then another two weeks to receive it as direct deposit. Will let you know when I receive it!

@RvSgbJC-dpit, when was your last day? It don’t matter about the 1/23, you weren’t supposed to get those packets until Jan 28 if you were ex’s. Or 1/31 if you were hourly. Plus nothing gets processed until after your termed.

Signed 1/23, called HR and confirmed they received 1/24, as of today still no severance...7 days + 2 weeks would be this Wednesday, the 14th.

Accepted the offer signed and sent to the DDHR, which her Assistant replied they have received the offer and acknowledgement. That was on the 30th, of January. Funny thing is DDHR has an assistant. Also during my phone conversation about my severance with the DDHR she could not answer my HR related questions, instead she told me to go ASKHR....smh.....A DDHR cannot answer HR questions. .......smh ...really....glad to be out of that horrible company aftee 16 years.

Jewelry girl in NJ, you should be getting your packet within a few days. You CANNOT work until the 18th. You will be termed effective the 16th, last day possible to work is the 15th. You need to resolve this scheduling issue with your manager now and remind them you cannot work past Feb 15. Huge mess if you try to clock in. Please talk to your store immediately.

@RvSgbJC-7mdy. You should never have been given your package on January 17th. Executives were to get their packages no earlier than January 29th. Hourly Associates where to get them no earlier than January 31st. Your store messed up royally.

Signed my General Release on 2/2/18. My 7-day waiting period will be over on 2/10/18. They claim they will process payment within 2 weeks of that date. So, hoping to have my severence by the end of the month. We'll see.

Does anyone know how they are calculating a week for p/t employees? what are they using as my week. Is it the number shown where my PTO is that says I typically work 3 days at 4.2 hrs each? or is it the avg hours for benefits? They are different and can mean a big difference? thanks

Today was the first day for severance packages to be given to HOURLY associates.

You can return the General Release anytime within the next 45 days, and once you do return it (back to the store so they can scan and send in, or you can scan and send in yourself or drop it in the snail mail box) there is a SEVEN day revocation period from the date you signed that document that the company HAS to wait on in case you change your mind. THEN they process your money and pay you out. Also watch for the materials to be sent about your COBRA if you have insurance.

I am in jewelry so we got a little bit extended. My last day will be 2/14 Valentines Day! Haven't heard a thing yet - no one even upstairs to ask. I am a part-timer (but not option 5) and am leaving after a total of almost 29 years with the company (14 yrs part time, 7 yrs on call, 8 yrs part time again. No break in service, but a change in status = only last 8 years count, but I did already know this so its not a shocker). This whole thing is just wrong. Trying to make the best of it, but I am still really upset.
