Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Will Q execute the layoff before the 3/6 stockholder meeting?

The is only one day left, no news. Why could not the manegement make a quick decision? Plus, won’t that convince the shareholders the current management can actually do something so they might vote for White? I cannot understand what the management is thinking. Anxiety is toxic.

CA said there will be layoffs. The list is final or very close to final as confirmed by more than one Director.

You can remain in denial, but by mid March this will all be more clear when packages go out.

This is very funny. So are you saying that someone on the 6th will layoff thousands of people overnight and Q will be abandoned? Don't you think that if there will be a layoff you'll know by now? There will be no layoff.

Last day is likely 5/20 to allow people to vest RSUs. Expect notices 60 to 65 days prior to that to meet WARN Act requirements. So you're looking at 3/15 or so for first round notices.

There's an astounding level of ignorance displayed in this forum. How many of you know what a warn notice is? A large-scale lay-off can't be done quickly since the warn notice us sixty days. If you define the play-off as the notification of those affected, then yes, it will be done quickly. But the company will either have to give you 60 days advance notice before the actual termination date.

I expect the warn notice to come out within three weeks. That's simply conjecture though. I expect (hope) that management will wait until after the vote to warn so they can adjust the severance package. The CIC package might be offered if the vote goes AVGO's way. That would be a generous gesture on the part of upper management to those being cut.

For those being laid-off, hope for blue in the vote...

@aym, what is the definition of "department" for the 5-25% cut?

All I know is that your department will be in the range between 5% and 25% cut depending on their performance. Just imagine where your department is located in terms of performance.

it is already started. It happens individually not at all at the same time like before. There are many already that are affected.

That makes sense.

CA mentioned it will be very fast, but actually it needs some time. Directors will do the evaluation of their engineers and submit to VP, and VP will do the same thing to SVP. It takes time. It will be about a month from now. Let's see what happens next Tuesday. Even though Tan wins, he is not gonna bother QCOM's own cleanup. He will plan his own round.
