@SMlFPe5-mwp you are 100% correct
Very complicated piece of shi... software with no coordination between different functional teams, doesn't scale well (no one even knows what the scale numbers are), everything need to be customized, Need 100's of engineer resources to win even a small dollar deals.. I knew this will never survive.. We are going to compete with this architecture with X1 and other OTT providers.. No way..
"(for good reasons IMHO) " Reality says this BU failed because we were swarmed by Cisco managers and the Seachange Mafia. Left alone with the original management structure it would have made more money. But also the old NDS customers floated the Infinite Everything for Cisco while L1 leaders flopped around and gave themselves promotions. When NDS was bought they reached a mark of 1 Billion in revenue. SO the products and talent was there. Now not so lucky, as all the talent was replaced by hoards of managers and no one left to do work
Good answer above. It used to be NDS (and I used to work for them - was cut in '14).
SP Video; So called "IVP" which supports cable tv, IPtv, DTH tv offerings. Plenty of customers from att, to emerging markets; many competitors be it nagra, ericsson, nokia, huawei, zte etc. A billion $ unit with very good margins. Cisco is selling it (for good reasons IMHO) but taking it too slow and its painful for many folks.
