Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Schenectady layoffs

There will be 225 layoffs on May 11th. These will be announced by your new plant manager on May 4th at your meeting. Im just a lowly office guy who overhears people talking. What do I know?

Any chance there is any truth to this? Or is it somebody trolling?

It seems thursday is usually the layoff day in Schenectady and they usually do last month of a quarter unless it falls at Christmas

A lot of people hope they close both plants. No more 2 pay scales no more crying like a little kid. I herd the new plant manager in Schenectady closed 2 facilities in upstate already. Looks like Schenectady is in trouble!

150 more getting layoff but -27 vrips which brings it to 127 which came from the union local 301. Same as last layoff plus I heared 40 salary which brings it to almost 300 which they wanted.

@STytIBk-bqo...What do you suggest? Layoffs need to be at least in proportion to % reduction orders.

Let the lay-offs commence, not sure the 225 number is correct, but bank on 150+

You would be surprised by what you often find in the office printer trays outside HR spaces...

I was in the bathroom stall and heard two managers talking at the urinals. The first said, "Water's cold today". The second said, "Deep too." The first said, "Not going to lay anyone off are we?" The second said "Nope." That should have been kept confidential but now you know the secret. Don't tell anyone.

I heard something similar. People talk way too loud on these things that should be confidential

Well with these type of numbers being thrown around..............................How can they possibly continue to function, can't imagine the atmospheric

conditions on the floor. I was one of the lucky ones laid off in January ........What a shame,I mean ,Schenectady is where it all started.
