Besides another carrier. I'd love to leave but without a degree I wouldn't make what I make elsewhere. I'm a pretty good rep but every year I make less and less with less overtime and increasing quotas. Everywhere I look I'm gonna take a $20k paycut. And I want to be done with retail.
So basically what jobs are taking people with our retail experience?
Got verizon to pay for my A+ and Network+ certifications and jumped ship the second I got an offer elsewhere...took a pretty big paycut but the change was sooooo worth it...no more working weekends, no more absurd micromanagement, no more HUM...life is just better...make Verizon pay for your way out like I did

Check the railroad. There is a LOT of telecommunication opportunities with Positive Train Control (PTC) project. They pay EXTREMELY well.

@vkb, "dealing with the elderly", really? How about re-phrasing that as "serving the elderly", though I can already tell from your telling words that you will not have a positive effect in that particular line of work pursuit.
What sort of bachelors and masters degrees are you going for that you can't get a high-paying job in this market? Even lucrative jobs in fiber optics not requiring a degree are flourishing.
If there's no job offers coming your way now, you may want to look at the type of degree you're pursuing.
This is how Verizon keeps its people....It gives them a good salary with benefits. One critical factor in customer service is having quality personnel at those positions....Verizon has that and wants to keep you.
Get into a growing business sector. Healthcare, m-r-j-a-a, dealing with the elderly, animals, etc.
Avoid the dying industries like retail with other phone carriers, petrolium, tobacco, yada yada et al...
