Stores with the highest smart setup rates will be first in line for indirect conversion and/or store closures. This whole smart setup program is a way for corporate to figure out which stores have a less needy customer base and thus can be converted without a uproar from the community or online forums. Stores with low smart setup percentages will be safer because those locations have customers they need hand holding that would not happen at a indirect store or if the store was to close. A close friend that works in corporate has relayed this information to me and it actually makes alot of sense.

We push a lot of smart set up, but we also push a lot of new lines. If these is facts behind this we can become last in smart setup really fast
@1mum, same in my store. We're top 10% of sales here (wbv). What concerns me is reducing headcount. We're doing great in all of our metrics BUT QUOTA. As a store were short the last 3 months by a few gross adds and management is concerned. If were not hitting quota, then we can be let go without severance. A lot (more than half) the reps in my store have been with the company 5 or more years. What will the heavy hitter locations be like if/when the staff is reduced or converted to a reseller? How many years do you think verizon will still have Corp locations?
Our store will never become an indirect location, for many reasons. The customers who have never backed up to the clouds will not go home and do it, they will actually sit in our store for hours on our slow and congested wifi, the ones that have backed up insist we stay by them and watch the phone retrieve from the clouds or google, if we use smart switch or content transfer even after showing them how they work wants us to do it, they don't get the concept that their old phone will continue to work till they turn on the new phone even with the setup for instructions at home.If Verizon has a timetable for store closures they have slowed it down by many years by doing everything I mean everything for the customers . NYM LOL
this explains why they are tracking smart setup so aggressively now all of a sudden.
Several stores in east texas were closed for this exact reason. These were busy and profitable stores... They were all converted into indirect locations.
I told my coworkers this exact same thing when this smart setup suddenly appeared from no where. I knew something was up and this confirms what we were already thinking.
