False talk about Kmart going away

Lately on this board there's been a whole lot of negative whoop law regarding the Kmart format and the false rumor that it will go away. Now I don't know why there is all of this negative talk about Kmart going away but I'm here to set that record straight. Kmart is NOT going away. Sears isn't either.

Kmart has rebounded. It is strong and doing well. Job positions are open and need to be filled to serve the increase of customers. Existing employees are starting to see pay raises. Stores are being remodeled. Exciting product lines are coming in to the mix and deals are being signed with NUMEROUS suppliers. So many stores now need not one but TWO truck shipments because of higher sales. You'll see, go stop by your local Kmart and look at all the wonderful deals.

The saying is "hoopla" not whoop law. No wonder SHC is declining

I would like to hear from everyone who has gotten a raise. Not a larger paycheck due to tax laws or raises in the minimum wage. I would also like to hear from the people who have gotten more hours and whose store has increased sales in the since January. Let the people speak and we will see if it is fake news.

Let us know what state you are from and how your store is doing and how much more money you are making as compared to last year.

@T8GA4MT-ijv - I can just imagine the chaos that goes on right now when they did away with the Receiving Clerk position. Do they still scan in the trucks? Do they still call DC if they find the container seal broken or if the serial numbers don't match? Does management still check OWB the day prior to the truck's arrival? I know probably all these things that used be part of the standard procedure that was outlined in the Goldenrod bulletins have been done away with by Hoffman Estates. McClane shipments and DSD shipments must be a nightmare if a receiving discrepancy is discovered. For the conscionable person, who has this responsibility and wants to do the right thing, but can't, because the higher-ups are discouraging you do so behind closed doors, I truly sympathize with you. By the way, this is not OP writing this post, but from a former store employee who did that position on top of many other things that were expected of them at minimum wage.

Fake news. The term is "members" not customers. You dont work at kmart or you would know that.

@ycw: Wouldn't be me. I used to average 40 hours, and worked any and all overtime I could get, or at least get away with. Used to be an active 707 and worked at other stores semi regularly. In spite of everything it didnt mean much at all. Pay was minimum and my OT was taxed up the a--. To earn anywhere near what a member of lower or middle management was making had to live at work all week, sometimes for a month. Longest period for consecutive days worked was 42.

But i can see how that would be a stark contrast to my former coworkers who would run to the timeclock and through the door to their car asap. The b--ching ablut hours is something that doesnt make sense to me from a financial standpoint, especially heafing the b--ching about personal finances, but is understandale given theack of morale. Many associates cant stand the place, yet feel bound to continue working. Its prevalent across shc.

Actually we just hired a “replenishment team” to be dedicated to unload stocks etc. so that part is true.

Part timers meanwhile are b--ching about too many hours.

Kmart used to recieve five to ten trucks on a weekly basis, and had a larger dedicated unload team (dozen or so people). Now it is smaller by a large number (counted on one hand). and some stores did away with them entirely. With all the stupid sh-- they send and in multiple quantities, many of it is unloaded and is promptly stored wherever space permits in the back. When there is a particularly large HBA shipment (multiple quanties) the unload time is longer as many boxes arent conveyable. Work around to that is utilizing a pallet or five high inside the truck, but often times the boxes are scattered amongst the truck. When unload goes over five hours it cuts into the schedule and affects lunch, and management expects associates to clock out. Thats 45 minutes of free labor and 45 minutes associates never get back. Even when working at the fastest speed unload team is treated with the upmost disrespect and general contempt. Management suggest practices that dont work in actuality and undermine associate knowledge and experience. Unload crew will also be used for heavy general labor in store. That is it. Any opportunity to assume another role in store is shutdown. When they get a chance to cut hours they will just the same.
