No simple answer to that question. Skill set will vary depending on need.

@2kue what is the skill set required for assisting a product team? And are those jobs also highly competitive? Thanks so much

You’re family member will be in the same boat as everyone else that’s considered overstaffed. They can apply to any postings as well as do their best to illuminate their value in their existing role in hopes they’ll be brought on to a product team.

So maybe you all can help me sort this out... A family member is in Systems and was transferred there after underwriting job went away, so not a high tech resume... Was just told Monday didn't make cut for scrummaster job. Boss had awkward convo Monday saying you are valued blah blah blah but didn't say you're safe. So still in Overstaffed role and no job offer on horizon. What's next? Anything? Or just wait for cuts? I think layoff is next for this family member... But do other people in this same boat think layoff or another option? Thanks for listening.

Writing our own monthly write-ups, our own EPR'S, is there any surprise SF is in the crapper? Good Lord in my department the left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing. Now if things weren't bad enough, let's shift work to people that I must "train" to take over work....knowledge share 5 plus years of work in 2 months. Good grief...leadership has NO idea of how bad things are going to be. Good grief I am skating my head as I write this! I just can't believe the stupidity in how the transformation is being handled.

That plan has already failed with leadership back in their old style of "give me your status report so I can transpose it into myblock". "What did you do again?" "what does that mean".

Yep. I'm not employed there anymore (I moved on), but this is precisely what I figured would happen. Any leader who has to ask what you're doing and what it means has no business leading you anywhere. That's not to say I expect every manager/leader to know how to write code or build a system, but if they are in a leadership role they should be LEADING rather than following.

Same old State Farm, plus a lot of foolish blood letting.

And of course it's the same old State Farm, since the same old inept executives are running the show.

Most of the folks I know all find out their fate tomorrow. There are still some good folks and teams working hard every day to move us forward while others stare at their phones all day. I can only hope the folks making the calls know the difference. Based on historical trends, they have no idea.

I haven't seen a manager come anywhere near the analyst rows in weeks. It has turned into a complete sh-- show. It is almost laughable when you sit in a planning meeting and folks are talking about target timelines which everyone knows are impossible given the current work rates.

I was hoping the whole G20 model for leadership would really change how SF works. Management, team leads, and architects would merge into a role where someone was actually willing and capable of helping a team move forward. That plan has already failed with leadership back in their old style of "give me your status report so I can transpose it into myblock". "What did you do again?" "what does that mean".
