Layoffs for manufacturing plants usually come in mass with little notice so not to create rumors. So people that believe they know the dates are just guessing. I don't know what satisfaction they get from these rumors. This is the world we live in. I think some layoffs are coming so i am preparing by getting resume together, understanding cobra rates and unemployment amounts. Also delaying major purchases and saving more of my extra income. I hope things work out for the best but i prepare for the worst.

Chaos in a big corporate company with a next to nothing Union. Haha I love it! Sometimes you think this company will do something great for you along with the union. It won’t happen the pipe dream of GE is over.

The OP needs to look up the definition of career. It doesn't mean spending 40 years with the same employer in the same job.

A college grad who gets hired into the OMLP and retires as a SVP is someone with a career.

A factory worker who works in bucket assembly for 30 years has a job.

Always has been a job, regardless of pay rate. You probably received your .20 cent COLA and bought a new 250k house. "Look at my new harley everybody, just got this BS contract bonus!! " Now the job you needed to be YOUR 'career' is in jeopardy...good luck with your interview

"This round". I'm so sick of hearing all these doomsday predictions. Tomorrow's the day, next Fridays the day, after we get back from shutdown its over.

Be honest, nobody knows.
