@1mkk - Agreed - just pointing out that Intel often has a loss-leader to help fund a bigger cause.

Don't forget that Intel is talking up 5G to sell more XEONs. Increased network bandwidth, data and services all help their cause. Missing out on the iPhone 5G version is beside the point. 5G expands the Server TAM, so Intel will continue to talk it up, no matter their fumbling on the modem.

ICDG is a complete sh-- show. Some Geos only know politics and not one iota of engineering. Now, don't act surprised by the delays. Does one really expect politicians to build a modem ?

These politicians can sell their performance to their buddies internally (after a few beers) but in the real world modems don't run on Matlab.

@1pll you mean the mobile trial platform MTP. THEY ARE STILL USING CABLING CAN'T GET IT TO WORK OVER WIRELESS. This was done by the old WiMax group. What a joke Intel mobile is!

@ote Intel have two groups building two 5G modems and neither will be ready before 2020! Positioning Intel exactly 2 years behind Q. So much for leaders in 5G

@phz - Apple certainly has all the cash for, true that. Mediatek has their own modems too why is Intel unable to get modems out faster.

@ufb - Apple's only objective is to spite Qcom no matter what. They will also develop their own modem eventually, so they don't mind sticking with an outdated, underpowered Intel modem for a while. That way it will be easier to replace with their own design when they have it ready. Fck customers in the meantime. Intel is stupid enough to play this Apple game.
