I have only been in Lawrenceville for one year but moral seems low and staff has no motivation from what I can tell. I see all these large groups of old men just standing around, last time I walked by one he grabbed my arm and asked what I knew about impending layoffs. I guess that is all they think about here, not sure if any of them are doing actual work. I'm wondering if other Cisco campus are like this, I was considering transfer to RTP

I work at Lawrenceville but I usually am WFH. Usually just come in a few times a month, haven't really had anything meaningful to work on for years. Sticking around until I get a package, in the meantime I'm working on other stuff and enjoying the good life
Lawrenceville will be one building, down from 3, down from 5, down from 6.
Yep, Abe might fly 1st class and refuse to ride in anything cheaper than a Jaguar, but he doesn't have, or even lease, a private jet.
When CR came for an all hands meeting over a year ago, it was easy to see that he was done with both SPVSS and the Lawrenceville office. He spent most of the meeting talking about Routing and Switching, giving a good rah rah for his sales staff who came from the Atlanta office. Then someone in the audiance asked what he thought of SPVSS and it's future, his response was made in a condesending tone and he basically said he didn't know and that was our problem to figure out. Next, someone asked him about growing the Lawrenceville campus given it's low cost, his response was that no one wants to drive all the way out here, instead he would expect in Atlanta
That wanking arsehole Chambers flies on a private jet. Abe Peled does not. Check your facts arsehole.
How would you expect Dr P to travel ? On a private jet?
@UHdxmZL-1edr The current norm in SPVSS/LWR is more like 5 hours per week. Unless you regard all this meaningless auto-approved travel as work. That should all come to an end as P will have to repay Cisco for expenses. P won't permit this amount of travel..except for Dr P who, it is said, only travels First Class and only with the best airlines.
@UHdxmZL-1tte The people working 10 hour weeks won’t last in the new company, expect P to clean house in the next 6 months
Seems to be plenty of luxary cars in the parking lot. To be clear I mean the parking lot farthest away from TCH. Only a few days a week though, and never after 2 PM. So it seems like those left at Cisco Lawrenceville are doing well, excluding the TCH misfits.
What's the current headcount including contractors at Lawrenceville?
Alpharetta is cheery now, but its time will come.Tech there is a dying idea.
Fake story obviously. No old men are employed at Cisco an more unless in senior management
UHdxmZL-fjb is right. Cisco has mistreated the acquired Scientific-Atlanta business from the start, and never understood how the business worked. Small wonder the people still there are shell-shocked and unhappy.
And UHdxmZL-key is a lying troll
@UHdxmZL-fjb, your problem is you don't know how to play politics. I was part of the politics that gave me 30k Bonus, 300-400 new RSU and 3% raise every year!!! until we were sold to technicolor. The last 4 cisco years was the best! I made at least 250k from Bonuses, ESPP and RSU those 4 years and i was just a regular engineer...
My first week at Cisco felt like an episode of the Walking Dead. A training seminar was foolishly scheduled for new employees in a building that just conducted massive layoffs. Family pictures, computer accessories, and empty boxes filled the halls.
I missed the Wiki article about how to do nothing but scheme for big RSUs and bonuses. (On a serious note, I’ve gotten less then the alleged RSU minimum grant for my grade for many years while I was there. And I was a top performer.)
Is every campus like LWR? The best answer is not yet. Every campus in the US has half-empty buildings. Heck even SJC has closed a dozen+ buildings over the last five years.
LWR’s problem is that it has been decimated by layoffs almost every year without exception since, I dunno, 2006? It has had a different leader every single year over that span until YK came along. And was constantly told it wasn’t performing well enough due to Cisco’s absurd margin demands. Only Cisco would look at a $1B business with maybe 30% margins and berate them. (This was pre-TCH.)
Some have the resilience to survive. Others exhibit dysfunctional behaviors like you’ve seen... or like posting “will this affect LWR” on every thread. But mock them at your peril. Ask not for whom the bell tolls RTP, it tolls for you. (... or BXB... or SJC.)
If you want a cheerier environment, I’d suggest transferring to the Alpharetta campus. Good luck!
Welcome to Cisco
What you stated is nothing new. Thats how lawrenville has always been. The people hardly ever worked. Its all politics and helping each other getting big Bonuses, RSU refreshers and raises... Trying to avoid LO's...
