Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Dividend raised

So, there is no money for proper raises, benefits are getting scaled back constantly, people are getting laid off left and right because - again - there is no money, and yet there seems to be more than enough cash to raise dividends.

Anybody else sees a huge problem in this?

@ccg, and your input lost value since there is no VZW stock...it is Verizon stock. Where have you been? Take your head out of the sand.

Raising the dividend will entice investors to buy VZW stock, this gives VZW more capital to operate with - higher dividends also keeps the shareholders happy. When the shareholders aren't happy they sell their stock in VZW, which means less operating capital. So to answer your question: their has "never" been a shortage of money, the goal is to make more money without selling more products/services and you do that by streamlining the company. All money made/saved as a result of the streamlining will be used to improve the network & pay shareholders their promised dividends & increase in stock price, this in turn makes them reward the CEO millions of dollars for making them so much money - the employee's are not considered in this equation nor will they ever be - the only reason companies exist is to make money if you assist them in that goal in anyway you are enjoy your paycheck just know your worth will not be acknowledged/rewarded by upper exec's & your "employees" are not considered in any decision made on the companies behalf.

Welcome to corporate America. You’re just a cog in the machine. If you left tomorrow they’d forget you existed
