Don't count on lots of OT. It depends on the liquidator you get. She capped us at 8 hours OT a week and hired temps. What a joke. What a mess. What a waste of employee knowledge and experience. It was a slap in the face to our loyalty and dedication to our store. This absolutely awful liquidator was incompetent and the liquidation process at our store reflected that.

Thanks for the support. I am just happy this is over I was heading out either way I think LQ might be fun overall since no processes or anything like that just sell as much stuff as you can which I am happy with that. You might know who I am, but I really worked hard for the company, but was never appreciated properly in the very end their loss in my book.

Ps. When I saw the store list, I thought I saw your store on it and I thought of you. I think you've sort of said which one before.

Hey there Jason! I wish you well although you don't need it. You're going to do great wherever you go because a great person & employee stays that. I can understand how you're relieved. Now you can truly move on to the next chapter.

Liquidators are totally in charge of the store. They will make the schedule, they will deal with customers, they will set the prices and they will sell everything that is not part of the building. Get ready. You will make more money with more hours in the next few months than you would have gotten in the past year.

@VEGTnYf-1mzc Thanks brotha means a lot to me. I think I discovered this site like 2.5 years ago and I learned so many things and made my doubts how my store was runned. Than reading here showed me about what really was going on. My close co workers I would be giving them updates of what was going on with Sears.

Finally my day came which was yesterday. I was truly happy I was in charge of FTW and that department from being well organized on its A game became sh!t when SST was introduced. I saw it crumble. I stop caring I did what I could, but day by day it got worse. When I saw yesterday my SM in tears that we were closing inside me I felt happy and relieved that its finally over. I was a bit worried how the holidays were going to be run since so much freight was unopened and so messy was the department it was insane.

I feel bad for some of my co workers (the ones i was close) some were in tears didnt see it coming (even though I warned them many times to look for something else) with how are they going to pay the bills well I did warn many of them to be ready.

Me I am happy I have already applied for another job and im in the process of it as of now. I will stick around in LQ make as much $$$ as possible. After that im going to stick to unemployment until they call me.

You will still see me around here @VEGTnYf-1mzc thanks for reading my comments loved this boards and hope for the best for anyone else. If anyone here is still heavily relying as Sears for a living get looking because Chapter 7 is coming! Eddie is almost done this infusion was to milk this xmas as much as possible.

Jason Rock, don’t have answers to your questions, just wanted to wish you well. Been reading the posts on this board for months, your input is always worth reading. Here is to hoping that I’ll be reading your posts on another company’s forum soon, may our only concerns there be our wages/working hours.

I also wanted to ask how does LQ go? My store is finally closing (thank god I was hoping my store would close before the strong holiday time). Will they tell us our schedules from now on? Do they let go off some people or keep some?

No more severance. Liquidation starts next week. liquidators come in this week to prep and get their teams ready. Saw out liquidator at a restaurant yesterday so I knew out store was closing. I met him at another store closing that i worked so i knew why he was here.

It's unlikely anyone will be getting any severance going forwards. You will have the opportunity to earn a lot more money during your store's liquidation period, though.

Are they paying the full time associates with time severance?

@srb, thank you so much for the info! I guess it's good for the company that s---ers fall for the going out of business prices as it helps them recoup more money to keep the rest of the company going, but I ageee you do better in point promotions while the store is operating normally than with closing sales.

Sorry... 45 days, not 90 days. Closures are usually 90 days. Now they want 45 days.

Sears is petitioning the court to begin liquidations at closing stores within two weeks of announced closing date (today) with an expedited wind down. Instead of the usual three months, Sears wants these closures completed in about 90 days.

Liquidator getting nice payout:

$100,000/mo for liquidating 1-20 stores at a time graduating up to $140,000/mo for doing 51+ closures.

Liquidating supervisor (one per store) earns $2,450/wk, plus travel costs and bonus up to $1,225/wk.

They are paid so high because they reset prices to manufacturer's suggested at the initial sale and s---ers buy those goods at prices often much higher than what the stores originally charged before bankruptcy. In fact, Kmart and Sears have dumped excess inventory from still open stores to closing stores because they make $1.10-1.20 per dollar on sales that Kmart and Sears earns for selling the same stuff at their usual stores.
