After years of abuse that we've taken and the high and mighty attitude of some, not all but some Sears purists, notice how much profit Kmart has added to this company? Seems Kmart isn't they loser they kept trying to make out it was. In some regions of the country, Kmart is what's keeping this company going.

Sears was profitable until Eddie took over. Kmart was bankrupt. Eddie used financial shenanigans to engineer the purchase of Sears, then he used shenanigans to take the capital of Sears to enrich himself, and steal the assets.
Kmart has never been strong, or well run.
There is one place in the world where Kmart is king, and that's Guam. Guam really is the one place that Kmart is unbeatable, highly profitable, and the envy of the rest of the company. It potentially could survive as a going concern.
The rest of Kmart is a perennial underperformer. Mediocre, and sc-aping by.
Sears is now in the same boat, as both companies were run into the ground by a guy who simply could not comprehend what was needed to make them successful.

Actually Kmart was strong and profitable after coming out of bankruptcy before Kmart bought Sears. Sears was already being pummeled by Home Depot, Lowe's, Macy's, JC Penney, TJX before they ever joined with Kmart. Kmart is still a place where you can get the same toys, clothing, general merchandise as Target and Walmart but at a better price.
The merger of Sears with K Mart dragged Sears down to bankruptcy.....
