Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Who can we contact?

Who can we contact in the media to report the unethical practices that this company is making the reps do?

I'm sick of being punished for doing upgrades with no "pull through" this is a joke !! Morale is low , managers are leaving, a job like this shouldn't have this much stress

Maybe when everybody does quit the company will figure it out! I watched a fellow employee tonight tell a customer he could not change her to a lower plan without a hum. The"new" plan included the smart car feature, and was required to go to the lower plan. Seems legit huh? I hope all you people that think this is a joke get taken advantage of the next time you buy something. This company needs to stop turning a blind eye to this.

Yelp and Google reviews, people do read this stuff, also record what you can, some of our reps recorded a meeting with our DM about a month ago, has some pretty bad stuff, and of course most of the meeting was negative, basically a beat down. All it takes is a couple of recordings of people telling you to do shady stuff or slam customers and you make it go public, media, Facebook whatever, but it will gain traction and people will see it.

Definitely agree with upper management being fully aware of the shady practices that go on. One of the retail presidents shared a best practice with me on how to basically slam Hum’s on customers accounts! WTH?!

Also, many leaders worked through B2B and Retail as reps and managers with a total lack of integrity.

Many of the VP of retail, Directors etc know what's going on with slamming. They make sure they talk the talk and cover their butts mentioning integrity. Termination only reaches Sales reps and management.

HR is well aware. Many people have been terminated over the years for fraud etc. If leadership wanted to put a stop to it they could.

Lol, there’s no “selling” going on in Vzw stores. It’s all about lying and who can manipulate a customers account the best.

There's nothing you or anyone else can do to stop. I had a guy in my store screwing customers over left and right i called the compliance line nothing ever happened. They don't care as hes making them money. Some people just dont have morals and dont care

@1lkk Quit posting the same b---s---. Get the f--- off this thread you low life. These people are trying to stop unethical behavior, and your trying to flip it back on the reps, for whatever reason. Get a f---ing Life and go away you POS. People that respond to unethical behavior get fired, whats your f---ing solution then huh? Why do you think this whole conversation is happening? People don't want to lose there jobs, but there Job is making them do unethical sh--. I seriously hope @1lkk some really bad sh-- happens to you in your life.

I am not in retail, but I have been to the same management training the retail managers go to and I have seen first hand that what is brought up on this thread about being ethical is absolutely true. One of the managers even was told that their job was to sell and if they were selling things that the customer could not afford, they were to push it anyway, it is not our problem that they cannot afford it.

All anyone really has to do is start putting comments on Verizon’s yelp, twitter, ig, facebook accounts with details of the activity. If everyone here did it and tagged the accounts of media organizations it may get traction, but remember Verizon is a major sponsor, so many media organizations may stay away from the story.

There is such a thing called personal responsibility. OP should do some self reflection. Have some morals and the guff to stand up against what you feel is wrong. Don't let fear guide you through life, be a leader and do the right thing. Change begins with you and how you respond to being asked to do something that is unethical is on you and no one else.

We have people in our stores that are starting to record conversations with managers and dm's, it's getting out of control, rerate the customers plan and add a hum or tablet for " the same price they were paying before" , if the customer asks if they have to take the hum, jetpack or tablet, we are told to tell them it's included in the smartcar or premium package, if customer states they don't want the extra stuff, just the new rate, we are told to tell them we cannot change their plan without the pull through product. I've been with the company 11 years and I have never seen so much b---s---. Company says sell with integrity, but turns right around and says slam every customer you can and take advantage of people, if you don't hit your numbers you'll be ridden daily and written up. My advice would be to do as our reps are, start recording what your managers and dm's are saying.

You should consider writing an email to VP, Training Dept & Presidential level. Reaching out to the “Good For Nothing”, SMs and then GMs & their Evil Area Managers is not gonna do nothing. It is the DOS who pulls the string on them. They’re all in these unethical practices themselves, all they care about is their paychecks & their job security. Why shouldn’t we just screw Verizon & Unionize? That will be a slap on their faces without a sound!!

EDY: Thank you for ignoring all my points and shifting your argument to my cursing. Thats what you call deflecting. When you don't have anything to go off of on the original point of conversation you deflect to something different. All bring it up again (last time), Wells Fargo threatened peoples careers if they did not meet or exceed goals, and it was encouraged (by upper management) to say and do anything to hit those numbers. The same thing is happening at Verizon! Weather you believe it or not that's a form of force by authority. This further proves you have no clue what your saying. I hope you lose your job within these lay offs, and if you don't work for Verizon, but for whatever reason are on this page. Get a life you bum. Your a POS, and have no idea what the hell your saying because you have never been there. I Promise you the only weak person here is you, B--ch.

Resorting to insults and profanity further demonstrates your weakness. Trying to justify unethical or even illegal behavior indicates flawed character. Whether it is deceiving customers, incinerating millions of people, slaughtering villages of unarmed people, or butchering infidels.. it all stems from “just following orders” by people too weak to think for themselves. No go ahead and resort to more insults. But it will not change the facts.

"You place money above all other considerations"

Again, you have no clue what your saying. Were the ones that want to stop heavy sales! were LOSING money because we dont want to push anything someone doesn't want in there bag. Not making it! Moral and integrity is what we consider, which is exactly why OP brought this up in the first place! You think reps enjoy being told your gonna lose your job if you don't offer the next 10 people hum weather they drive a car or not. POS

@ixn Shut your dumb a-- up. You sound like some of the brainwashing machine that worked in retail. That sounds like your back up language if your reps ever through your integrity-less a-- under the bus because you push the reps through fear mongering to hit number at all cost. If you dont know what were talking about then shut the hell up. Its people like you that created this nightmare in retail. All sorts of "managers" in retail promote sleezy sales practices. "No one can be forced into unethical conduct". Ummmmmm Wells Fargo Dumb a--.

jdn: you are morally deficient to always “do what you are told”. Doesn’t matter if it is at Verizon or any other job or situation. Just shows that you place money above all other considerations. Intelligent, educated, free-thinking people have graduated beyond this primitive thinking.

@ixn you clearly have absolutely no clue how a vzw store works. If you need your job, you do what you're told. If you can't understand that just STFU

No one can be forced into unethical conduct. If you are acting unethically, that is your decision and your problem. May I suggest a testosterone injection might do you some good. Grow up.

I too would totally love, and be more then willing to talk about all the unethical sales practices that were pushed on the retail reps at Verizon. The constant fear mongering, and being harassed after every transaction because you didn’t trick somebody into buying a hum. The amount of stress that job created is sicking. Another Wells Fargo. The credo was a joke

Your job is to sell. Ethics has nothing to do with it. Lie, cheat, and promise anything. Just sell and get them to sign on the line that is dotted.

You work in a sales role... your job is to SELL. If you don’t want to sell and just want to clerk orders go work at Walmart.
