The whole point of bringing wireline and wireless together is to get rid of wireline reps. Think about it if you cross train all reps. Wireless can sell fios products in all stores.Plus the reps can take the calls and you cut high paid wireline reps. The only reps that are protected under the contract are the ones who have been with the company since 2003 per contract. The rest you can layoff especially if your in a at will state. They already had this planned last contract . Stay Woke

I can learn all I need to be a wireless rep in 1 day, it took 2 years of classroom and 30 years to learn how it all works together.
Start with Erlang, pass by the ORMs, then visit Sonet, ask about MM then SM cable along the way, and finally what does it take to bill network components, ground yourself in a CO to protect the transmission and switching gear. In fact 99.9% of wireless people have no idea of the difference between the 2.
What is a PIDB, design a call center using ASoA of 5 seconds or less with 1 minute of ACWS. What power supplies are used in cell tower sites and why are those chosen? Hello the wireline network is highly complex compared to wireless and without wireline wireless would be nothing. All the cell sites are connected with fiber, but very few wireless people could explain why erbium doped fiber gives you greater signal stability between cell sites.
I see Verizon love being selling off wireline network and making a foolish play for 5g and the roughly 40% they think they can capture, at least until either new competitors enter the market (like NY) where you only need to inexpensively add a small tower to 1 of 1000s of buildings or new technology comes along.
Remember the captain of this ship knows only wireless and he was fired from his last job.
The smart thing would to be take the package and get your resume to the companies buying the wireline network.
Also 1 other point, the gov't requires wireline and hardened services in many places and they cover 100% of the USA. Wireless is particularly vulnerable to EMP and other types of terrorism attacks not as likely to happen with wireline. Hence wireline is here to stay. One EMP burst and say hello to the dark ages with wireless, while wireline will operate to some degree.
VZ Wireline are all unionized employees and you cannot send their calls to a non union labor group (wireless). They have percent retained numbers and call share procedures in contracts. They will not be training non union reps to take calls from unionized employees, or at least not until they are non union also.

My bet is they cross train all Sales Reps for a period of time then whack the low performers down the road to scale the combined teams.
They can merge both WBG/VES/B2B no need for all these different people to get paid on one sale. We don't need 9 WBG Directors and god knows how many Market Directors and then add VES into that. Customers are confused and we are bleeding money on simple wireless sales. Time to lean in.
Everyone can be replaced and eventually everyone will be. There are no more jobs for life. Take control of your life. Don't wait for someone else to turn it upside down.
Maybe on consumer. Business side is whole other ball game. VES knows fiber, ucc, mpls, security suites, cloud, co-lo. wireless knows....cell phones.
