Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Be prepared, folks

From everything I've been hearing and reading, this week is shaping to be as bad as the last few, if not worse. We are still far from this entire nightmare being over.

It's confirmed. ALL of Rochester is closing, very few people can telecommute but it won't be a forever thing; they have until mid-February

"Well, they renting space in a big local hotel for the sitewide. Is it typical for a wind-down to announce it offsite in a hotel ballroom? It's like torturing people in a big space."

It's never happened before, so how would we know? Hard to cram ~400 people in 1 meeting room within the Aqueduct building.

As far as it being a "surprise" happening around the holidays...it's not so much "surprising" but more like disappointing, disgusting, demoralizing. And if you aren't finding yourself in this situation, don't be such a smug a-hole about it.

Legal Editorial Operations. But I think the Eagan folks that were laid off today were once a part of Leo but now are a part of EdOps (Editorial Operations)

“From everything I've been hearing and reading ...”

What have you been hearing? What have you been reading?

Talk is cheap, and no one truly knows what is going to happen. There will likely be layoffs, but we don’t know where they will happen, whom they will happen to, and exactly when they will happen.

What have you been reading? If it’s this board, it is completely anonymous and unreliable (not that the company is reliable in communicating how its plan affects general employees). If you’ve read something on the Hub or something that internal employees can access, reference it.

Otherwise, enough of these b---s---, vague, and speculative posts not offering any insight.

No, it doesn’t happen the same time every year. And if you weren’t fired in years past, yes, it would be a “surprise” when you get fired.

The new heads of global content operations were just announced. Any know if layoffs are coming in Operations?
