How many have hit the button? Who goes first? Is it based off of seniority? How are they deciding these things?

Personal experience > some anonymous one-liners.
With Professionals, not doing a proper handoff of what their responsibilities could result in losses as bad or worse than what you're imagining. And you don't know anything about IT forensics if you say otherwise... someone would have to be an elite hacker to cover their tracks- this ain't Hollywood.
lol @ibh was behind the breach that got us the green E internet explorer citrix app a couple years ago
@ibh so you believe it is worth the risk to provide access to individuals on the payroll who have willingly requested layoff? Fantastic security. Things will go well!
@njj - spoken like somebody NOT in those fields. Have you ever even heard of IT forensics? Those "Keys" you refer to? they are ID logins, it's against policy to use logins that don't ID a user (root/admin)
That's how this is handled now- and you're talking about professionals with a lot at stake- not those that would sabotage wire boxes on the side of the road during a strike.
They'll just watch what those marked do, and if they do anything unethical they WILL lose their severance (it's in the VSP agreement, a sample was already provided) and will be prosecuted, even sued for damages. If there are specific risks identified by a team, those will be dealt with individually.
I have assisted at least a half dozen long-term engineers leaving our team in transferring their responsibilities- It wasn't even a thought in their head to sabotage- they had careers or retirement nest eggs to lose if they did. That you would even think of it that way is a testament to YOUR character. Have a nice day.
Who goes first? I would say the systems and network engineers who raise their hands. Even those not selected for December. It would be foolish not to. They have the keys to the castle. Every documented password, numerous undocumented passwords, in band and out of band, every production database, and then some.
You notify them on 11/17, restrict their access, and bring in VDSI to manage the workload until others can be found. The risk of individual notification leaking out before 12/10 is too great. It has to be done immediately because there is too much risk to keep these individuals around.
Ronan told his commanders not to hold back anyone who signs up, let them all leave in Dec if possible. no point to wait until next 2019, they want to save 10b as soon as possible
Contractors get virtually no benefits (in general)... but if your SO works, that could be fine.
But yes, after 6 months you can return as contractor. Even less if it's a SOW contract (not personnel contract).
To the person who said never to return. That is 100% wrong. You can’t return as an employee but you CAN return as a contractor. That is clear in the FAQs and stated on the daily calls multiple times.
My guess, and that is all this can be at this point, is that of those that took the package (pressed the button) 70% go in December, 20% in March and the remaining 10% in June.
If you are in a group and they need to decide who they will let go and not they have said on the noon calls that those with more service get the priority. On the other hand that doesn't mean that the person with the most service will be the first to leave. In other words someone with less seniority might be given a December leave date while someone with more seniority leaves in March.
My group was told that if you pressed the button you can expect to leave in December.
there are no dumb questions - only dumb answers
Read the post, dumb question.
It's not a dumb question if you read the ENTIRE post. Who goes first, how do they decide who goes first etc.
There will be very few who volunteered and not leaving in December. They want everyone off the books ASAP. Very limited exceptions.
It's a dumb question. If you clicked the button you're out and never to return. Simple. No one who pressed the button is staying.
@W9UgORO-xlz - they might be......
Why would you think this site will have that info? Do you think senior members of HR are posting here?
