@W9Xybsj-raf The post itself was an insult. An insult by someone who obviously works at Oracle, as they can't spell. Maybe one of the new hires?

I suspect he is just looking at the amount of money Oracle still has, that could be invested, but won't. He probably thinks it's a sure bet that eventually Oracle will come back.

What he doesn't understand is the internal corruption and incompetence that permeate the development organization. He probably thinks that comments that appear here are just one-off disgruntled employees, rather than a consistent and thorough corruption of the Oracle management.

Also, he is probably not involved in the decision. He is most likely dependent upon people around him. Those people could even be paid to push Oracle. LE has a lot of money.

Warren should stick to what he knows - soda pop, underwear, insurance, banks etc... He does not know technology.

Warren may have got 6-8% dividend deal which retail investors won't get it. Remember warren invested in IBM then what happened. Story repeats..

He has less than 2% of his portfolio in Oracle. Standard diversified portfolio really.

As said im sure he expects Oracle to keep propping up the share price and he will be happy to receive his dividends and possibly a minor increase in share price.

Thanks Uncle Warren.

I'll be selling ALL of my Oracle stock(close to 100k) tomorrow(it'll be over 110k by then).

Cost basis: 17+ bucks

Waiting for the recession to buy the market at a discount with this cash.

Who's the effing looser now?

He did a similar thing when he made a bet on IBM. Never invested in tech before, but he did make a bet on IBM. Ginni Rometty took him for a ride of his life and he took a 25% haircut in less than two years. Buffett's typically cool, but IBM annoyed the hell out of him - he was done in less than two years, he packed and left leaving a trail of financial tears.

The money was re-channeled into Apple, his second Tech bet - he's flat on that investment if you calculate in the most recent dip. I think this will pay off much better than IBM did.

And, then finally, here we come. I kind of have a feeling he believes the price is right and that there is an upside potential - not sure how things will pan out though. The fact is that the stock is going up, you can argue why, but the fact is it's going up. The cash flow is super strong, you can argue that there is a large captive market that will be generating a ton of cash for years to come. That's what Buffett likes the best... With this in mind, would not it be better to buy Microsoft?

Anyhow, this is good for Oracle.

He has admitted that he knows nothing about technology and has always stayed away from tech companies for that very reason. Lost money on IBM, I believe.

Considering he knows Oracle is going to continue buybacks for a few more YEARS, it’s a great investment opportunity. He knows the buybacks are going to prop up the stock value.

Good investment for a short-term play: yes.

Good investment for a long-term play: no (as Oracle loses all the big contracts to AWS)

Good company to work for: absolutely not. No raises, RSUs being reduced to next to nothing. Everyone stabs each other in the back. Sales staff is purging all senior people who know how to sell enterprise software and replacing them with 22-25 year old children that barely know what ERP, HCM, CRM, etc. stand for.
