WM / retail is not for everyone. You sound like you would be happier elsewhere.

@oca Go work in a liquor store. American retail hasn't figured out yet how to automate alcohol sales. No self-checkout that I'm aware of, in any retailer in any state, allows alcohol purchases.

Or you could be proactive, quit waiting to be spoonfed opportunities, use the time you spend here complaining to improve your skills and your resume and your job hunt, and get out of retail entirely. Your choice.

"Soul depleting"..."highly toxic"...this post accurately describes working at Wal-Mart and why the company will fail. They have forgotten that most of their money comes from associate spending (paying the company store). Ruin the lives of your employees and your profits weaken and wither away. Shop elsewhere America. There are better places to buy cheap Chinese sh--.

Stop worrying about this stuff. The 3rd generation of Waltons will run the business into the ground.

@oca you had youth, 12 free years of education, and if you wanted more, there was ROTC, or other scholarships if you applied yourself. What did you do with it?

I agree that most American companies are all about making money. But I don't see other companies continually laying people off and the same time buying other speculative companies. Especially way overspending on Flipkart. They should be more creative and cut executive pay and bonuses.

@ coa: You people who come on here all judgemental and haughty in your attitudes love telling people 'just go get a better job!' ----- but offer no clues as to where these mythical things exist for people limited in youth, special skills or education.

vnc is right. It's Walmart. A paycheck is plenty. Seriously, were you expecting to find fulfillment and your happily ever after? I'm here to to earn some Holiday shopping money. If you're planning your life around Walmart, your life took a wrong turn long before you got here.

Er - it's Walmart. Bottom-of-the-barrel shopping, selling c-ap Chinese products at trailer park prices for the lowest common denominator, without even pretending to deliver "value" to the customer or back to society as a whole. Exactly what kind of la-ti-da working environment do you expect? People work at this god-forsaken company either because they cannot find anything else or because they've figured out a way to skate by for entire shifts doing as little as humanly possible. Want a good job that holds value and personal fulfillment? Prep that resume and get to work searching . . .
