Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

It is not looking good for next year

I have worked for the company for 20 years and this is the first time that we are cutting hours the week before Christmas. The store manager is super frustrated as our Magic (service) comments from the customers complain about the condition of our stores and wait times, lines are long and we have stockrooms full of seasonal merchandise. Already talking to seasonal team members about their last days, many of them aren't even showing up anymore, but conference calls every morning with the region about not using hours.

Twas the night after Christmas and in every store, the focus has shifted from Santa to the Hunger Games once more. Come January just a few days away, the closings and neighborhood store announcements are coming our way. If you were naughty and made zero profit, if your lease is expiring, or on your building there's money to be made, then brace your self brother, your job may be going away.

If your district has less than twenty locations and neighbors another, pray that your results are better than others. Integrated workforce, neighborhood doors, consolidation, realignment, streamlining, combining, are just some of the terms you will hear, what they all mean is abundantly clear.

Without a huge unexpected tax break to soften the blow, Jeffery and Hal have to cut expenses or go. The investors aren't happy with a stock price down 24% in just half a year, so hope that you're in a G-Door with nothing to fear.

If you think this year was hard, then strap yourself in, because changes are coming and survivors will wonder who drew the high card, those who got laid off or those who stayed on.

The writing has been on the wall for several years now. There is no loyalty in brick and mortar retail.

Find another job now. Why are people surprised? Or are still in denial? Move on with your life.

I left or was laid off from Macy’s 2 years ago. From co workers still working at Macy’s things have gotten worse. I no longer have to spend the holidays with miserable stores and management that thinks they are high on the political chain. Management needs to get off their high horse and realize your just managing a dept store. And the district people lol swear they are part of the Kennedy clan.

There is life after Macy’s. I’m glad I’m out and never looked back. Cut my Macy’s platinum card in pieces and will never buy anything from Macy’s again. Life is good.
